That is pretty cool. I like the idea of people designing games for the old console. It's like playing records on a turntable. There is just a different experience there. Plus, I can't get into most of the video games today. I find them frustrating.

How much of that information is verifiable? We we know that all of that happened, or is it just "inside information"? It's definitely interesting, if true. The Marvel TV productions have gone to a whole new level of quality. I mean, Jessica Jones was too long and had a lot of arc planning issues, but the production side of it, the acting, and the overall tone of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and even Agent Carter in some ways have definitely seemed separate from the movies. But I see that as a really good thing.

I believe that some version of this movie was always planned. However, I don't think that it was going to be Captain America v Iron Man until after Batman v Superman was announced. I don't think that Marvel could have released this movie with Captain America facing off against Black Widow instead of Iron Man, right after BvS came out. I think that the decision to turn Iron Man into a central character in the movie was definitely influenced by Batman v Superman. And you know, it's not even that big of a deal. I just point out this fact because I've spent the past three years listening to every commentator on the internet talking about how DC is trying to "catch up" to Marvel, or trying to copy Marvel's playbook. DC has been trying to get a Justice League movie together for almost a decade (there was a lot of talk about getting Routh and Bale to team up before Marvel movies were a thing, though they were not asked to sign onto the movie). They have been actively trying to get Wonder Woman made since at least 1999.

The fact is, none of these ideas are new and none of these movie ideas popped up since Marvel's movies came along. What happened was that the old way of making comic books movies simply didn't work. Technology allows them to make these movies look the way they need to look, and the mindset that is needed to make these movies is finally where it needs to be (thanks in no small part to Nolan's Batman films). No sense or logic has gone into any of these reports about DC copying Marvel or trying to catch up to Marvel, and I would just like to point out that Marvel isn't exactly the golden child in this genre. DC had a huge win when they announced BvS, and Marvel answered the only way they knew how. Ultimately, each movie will have to be judged on their own (though they will undoubtedly be compared to each other, which is ridiculous, since they're two completely different types of movies).

As for whether Marvel regards DC as a joke... they would be foolish, if that's true. There are third-tier DC characters who are more familiar and iconic than some of the most prominent Marvel characters, to this day. Look at Suicide Squad. Harley Quinn was the most popular Halloween costume last year, and I don't even know if she would qualify as a third-tier DC character. DC is doing just fine in terms of their characters and their marketing.

Marvel... This isn't a slam or anything like that. It's just the reality of the situation. Marvel is Disney. It's whole machine is the same machine that put out Frozen. The product itself is not great, but they know how to market the crap out of it. They're doing the same thing with Star Wars. It's obviously a legitimate business model. It works for them. But it's not even the same game that DC is playing with their movies.

People talk about how "dark" the DC movies are, but I think the major difference is that the approach to the DC movies has been to make them seem like real films. Chris Terrio, who wrote Bvs and Justice League part 1 said:

"I initially thought I wasn’t the guy to do Justice League and went off to work on something else. But the first day I went to the set, I saw Jesse [Eisenberg] in a scene with Holly Hunter and I really did feel like I was watching some strange, great performance in an independent film. At that moment, I thought, ‘I’m not done with this yet. I want to go back and keep telling the story.’ "

That quote says a lot to me. You wouldn't mistake any of the Marvel characters for an independent film character. They're not trying to be grounded or make their characters feel real. They want Frozen, minus the annoying song.

Whatever you say about Man of Steel, you have to admit that there was some truly beautiful filmmaking involved. There was a level of consideration there that is not present in any of the Marvel movies. DC's movies are going to be divisive. Not everyone will like them. They're not Frozen. I think that by this time next month, we are going to be debating what we liked or didn't like about BvS, and if it's anything like Man of Steel, those conversations will go on for the next three years. Marvel shouldn't be laughing at that fact.

DC has had Geoff Johns working on the film/TV tie-in projects for a number of years now. He's listed as an executive producer on most of the upcoming movies, as far as I can tell. I don't think Snyder is solely responsible for the franchise.

It was hinted at in Winter Soldier that Hydra killed Stark's parents (which isn't a big stretch, since Howard has been dealing with Hydra since The First Avenger) but I don't think there have been any hints about Bucky being responsible.

Don't get me wrong, I think that the movies were probably working toward Cap fighting against this government body. I think a lot of those elements were in place. But I think that bringing in Iron Man and having two of their biggest heroes facing off was a direct response to BvS. It just doesn't make sense to have Iron Man starring in a movie that isn't an Avengers movie and which doesn't have his name on it. Especially since he is the biggest name they have. I think they decided to have them face off last minute and tied it to the Captain America franchise so that they could stay on schedule, and so that it would fall into Chris Evans' contract.

I was thinking about the contracts again and it occurred to me that this Civil War movie couldn't have been the plan all along. RDJ's contract didn't cover it. He didn't sign onto the film until sometime around October 2014. Work on the script (breaking the story) began in late 2013, with the writers talking as though they had a more specific grasp of the story around April 2014 (though it's pointed out that they're trying to keep other characters from overshadowing Captain America, since it's his movie... so I don't think it was a totally firm grasp of what they were making)

http://collider.com/captain-america-3-s … n-mcfeely/

Okay, I know it's annoying that I keep hammering the idea of Civil War being a direct response to BvS, but the evidence is there.

July 2013 - Batman vs. Superman is announced at Comic Con.

Late 2013 - Markus and McFeely are hired to write Captain America 3

February 2014 - Anthony and Joe Russo begin work on the film.

April 2014 - The writers discuss the film as a direct sequel to Winter Soldier and it's said that Cap has to remain the central character since it's his film.

October 2014 - RDJ enters final negotiations for the film, and as far as anyone can tell, becomes an equal star in a movie that was supposed to be a Captain America movie.

So over the course of that year, it went from being a Captain America movie, to being a Captain America sequel that heavily featured another hero in a starring role. I don't see any sign of this having been the plan all along, especially on this scale. I could see them planning to have heroes rebelling against the government, but all signs point to Iron Man being added way later in the game.

Given when that development happened, along with the release date of the film, I still have a really hard time believing that it's not a direct response to Batman v Superman. Could Marvel have released a run of the mill Captain America movie in between BvS and Suicide Squad?

Maybe it's just my silly geek conspiracy theories or my need to second guess everything that happens in Hollywood. I am willing to accept that I may be insane. But as far as I can tell, the numbers line up.

That sounds like a lot of work. smile

I doubt it is a big deal. The Outlander TV series didn't cast some pivotal season 2 roles until I'm pretty sure they were done filming most of the season. If they stay true to the books, those characters will have to be added to earlier episodes.

If she is a big Federation higher-up, she could just be appearing on the viewscreen, giving orders or whatever. It is probably just a way to frame or set up scenes more smoothly.

I would be more worried if she was replacing another actress and reshooting all of those scenes.

Besides, it is New Trek. It was probably never going to be an art film to begin with. smile

Oh! I know that most people probably aren't as into getting deals as I am, but I thought I'd post this anyway.

Best Buy has some DC related blu-rays on sale (like seasons of The Flash, Arrow and Gotham for $14.99, and some other movies/shows for low prices), and you get $8 to spend toward a BvS movie ticket with the purchase too, apparently. I have a $5 promo card for Best Buy, so I will probably get season 1 of The Flash for $10, which will give me an actual product to keep after seeing the movie, rather than just a ticket stub smile

http://slickdeals.net/f/8523437-select- … pickup?v=1

The Flash comes with a digital copy too... cool.

I'm planning my Man of Steel rewatch, for before I go see BvS. I doubt that I'll be able to see BvS within the first several days of its release, but I don't want to be spoiled, so it can't be too long.

Anyway, with Easter falling on the release weekend, I will probably want to watch it before then. So I'm thinking of maybe watching it next week. If anyone here is planning to rewatch, maybe we can coordinate, so we can compare thoughts and notes, rather than relying on our memories of having seen it a while ago. I'd say that we could live tweet/post about it, but then we probably wouldn't be watching the movie smile

I'd like to see Smallville added to the multiverse too. Hopefully that can still happen. I really love the way that they opened the door to these bizarre crossovers, without sacrificing the integrity of their own story. Allison Mack could show up as Chloe Sullivan for a few episodes, and it would still make sense. That's pretty cool.

Unfortunately, they're choosing to use this power for evil, by crossing over to Supergirl. smile

I agree about them putting Kandra and Jackson in unnecessary situations. They did it because they wanted to play every single racism/homophobia angle that they could possibly play. But that motivation was wrong. I was thinking about it, and I started to wonder how many stories we've seen set in the 20's, 30's or 40's, with such heavy-handed issue handling. I don't know what it is about the 50's, but they always make that the most racist, despicable decade when they show it on TV shows. Does it have to do with rebelling against the society that the Greatest Generation built when they came home from war, or is there something else that I'm missing?

Kendra would have made much more sense as the nurse. Sara would have made much more sense as the wife. And for that matter, Sara could have gone over to talk to the high school girl without drawing any attention to herself. The whole episode was forced and clunky.

I like the idea of making the Firestorm matrix unstable. They could explain that something is a little off with the Stein/Jax connection, which was more stable with Ronnie. There is usually tension between them, so it would be interesting to play that as part of their unstable matrix.

Trump has won a lot of states, but his delegate count isn't impressive. I don't think he will get the nom.

The question is, will it go to Cruz, or will they pull a new candidate out of their hat at the convention. If they try to go with someone new (like Romney), I don't think it would go over very well.

Last night's Legends was by far the worst of the series at this point. It was like there was a checklist of 1950's cliches that they had to get through, which left no room for story or putting logic into the character's actions. It was annoying.

(2,624 replies, posted in Sliders Bboard)

I've heard a lot of people slam Cruz for being "evangelical", but I haven't really concerned myself with his religion too much.

Trump served a purpose at first. He kept some of the typical candidates from getting the nomination, as they always do. The last two republican nominees did horrible jobs and were pretty much given the nominations because they went with the flow. I saw Trump as a booster rocket early on... but he's failed to detach at this point and he really, really needs to go.

I like this...

Clark - "I'm thinking of writing a book about a billionaire playboy who becomes a crime fighting ninja by night."
Bruce - "I'm thinking of writing a story about an alien whose friends and family never hear from again."
Clark - "I didn't know you could write."
Bruce - "Yeah. True crime."
Clark - "Right, right... I mean, it sounds more like fantasy to me."
Bruce - "Okay, I've managed to trace the components of the bomb from last night back through a dozen of Luthor's dummy corporations. I've forwarded the information to a contact of mine in Homeland Security. Luthor's already on his way to the airport, so I set off the fire alarm on his private jet, which should keep him tied up for a while."
Clark - "You did that all right now?"
Bruce - "While we were having this conversation."
Clark - "...okay. Should I fly somewhere and do something?"
Bruce - "You just keep writing those stories."
Clark - "I can shoot lasers out of my eyes."
Bruce - "Which is adorable."

I have to stop this now. I have real work to do. smile

True. I think he could still be a writer, even if he's not a journalist. I don't know if he'd write fiction or non-fiction, but I could see him selling books. Writers can be a little less visible than journalists these days.

Restructuring his life a little bit could allow them to introduce Chloe Sullivan, probably. She can be Lois' cousin... Maybe Chloe is responsible for formatting Clark's books and running his website (stuff like that), and introduces Clark to her cousin Lois, who is another writer that she works with. Clark and Lois can still work on their own books at times, and together at other times.
But where would this leave Perry and Jimmy?

The newspaper world has given Superman a lot of characters with different perspectives. Cat Grant is another one. John Corben. So, how could we restructure his life while holding onto these established and beloved characters?

Because obviously, we're now in charge of this project. smile

As far as I know, he still eats and sleeps. He should have normal bodily functions, aside from the boost that the yellow sun gives him.

Even without that, I think he would need a home. He would still have interests of his own, family heirlooms, someplace to keep his clothes, etc.

He still needs a home, food, internet, Netflix, etc. Being super wouldn't solve everything unless he stole money.

I don't see the Fortress as any kind of home really. It has always just seemed like a resource to me. A library/storage area. His living there would separate him from humanity.

There are a few ways that I could take the character.

1. He takes over the farm and provides produce for Metropolis-based restaurants.

2. He works as an independent journalist/blogger. Nobody probably cares to listen to Superman's opinions on anything. And voicing an opinion as Superman could be taken the wrong away anyway. Maybe running his own site would allow him to be Clark Kent to the world.

3. He could work at a normal, boring desk job in Smallville.

Things have changed a lot over the past few decades. Now, he wouldn't have to be in the city to make a living or to have his ear to the ground. Clark doesn't seem like someone who has always dreamed of living in the city either. So, why would he?

The problem is that while his life may need an update, I don't know how do do that without doing away with a lot of great, iconic supporting characters, or alienating the audience who expect certain things from Superman.

I never got the whole "if this happens, I'm never watching again" mentality. Olicity fans scream the line every time they have a fight. I'm all for twists that I don't think I'll like, as long as they're well considered and well written.

That would work. I'd even like to see Clark happily live a quiet, normal life. I'm just not sure that the larger audience would go for it. They already complain about him not being true to the comic books in Man of Steel.

I think Man of Steel managed to play this issue well. It's impossible to believe that Lois would't know that Clark was Superman, so they didn't even pretend to make it work. In doing this, they made the story more believable (to me anyway). They have Clark wearing glasses, but Superman is never clearly seen by most of the people in the movie. He wouldn't be easily recognizable. Especially since his outfit would draw more attention than his face.

There are celebrities who can walk around without being recognized all the time. People whose faces are all over the place, all the time. They change their hair or their clothes, and you wouldn't even notice them on the street. With women, it's easier because of hair and makeup. But guys too. I think it's more possible to blend than people suspect. And while people might think that Clark Kent looks a lot like Superman, the same way Keira Knightly looked like Natalie Portman when they were younger, nobody would really think that these two famous people are actually the same person.

For those who haven't seen:  https://youtu.be/dKrVegVI0Us

I agree about the costume. It is bad. And the tween voice was also uninspiring. It's like a real movie trailer was cut short by a kid's fan film.

I agree that the movie shouldn't have been a Captain America movie. It should have probably been an Avengers movie, but those tend to be less character driven. The fact that it is a Cap movie (and thus so skewed) has fed into my feeling like this was an afterthought of a movie, or a reaction to Batman v Superman.

Contract statuses: http://www.inquisitr.com/2147398/the-cu … -universe/

Looks like RDJ will have two more, an Evans will have one more after this, unless he signs on for more.

The problem with Reeve's portrayal was that there was no real character. He was playing a character as Clark Kent, and he was playing a character as Superman. There is a definite line between the two, because he played them as two separate people. I equate that movie with the old Batman TV series. It was just too much.

Superman is very muscular in the comic books. That is what the character is supposed to be. Reeve was a fairly average build, obviously sucking in his gut. And his movements weren't strong enough either. He practically pranced through some scenes. I would probably put him down as the worst actor to play the role.

I don't think it's fair to say that they didn't bother with the Clark Kent character in Man of Steel. The entire movie was Clark Kent figuring out how to become Superman. I don't think that Clark should be bumbling and lanky. That guy would be drawing way more attention to himself than Clark probably should. I think the difference between Clark and Superman should be far more subtle than that. Man of Steel and Smallville had similar takes on the character.

I agree that Routh is probably better off playing less serious roles. I don't know that he has the authority for Superman, but he does roles like Ray Palmer well. Plus, he has brown eyes. Superman shouldn't have brown eyes, and the contact lenses were obvious and weird.

Hillary is weird. Her voice and accent change, depending on her audience. If she is speaking to a black audience, she suddenly starts to sound like a southern preacher.

I agree with you about the talking points. And she has had a few moments where she seemed a little out of it, because she went to the wrong talking point. Like being asked about the economy and going to the 9/11 talking point. I really don't think she's all there.

I know a lot of people who seem to support Sanders on Facebook. I personally could never remotely consider voting for him, but some people seem to like him. I just don't think he ever wanted to win. It's not like there is nothing to take Hillary down with, but he never goes for it. He essentially said that he didn't care about emails or Benghazi. So if he has no objection to Hillary, why would people vote for him?

Also "Feel The Bern" is a horrible slogan. It sounds like he is going to give everyone who votes for him an STD.

If they do end up killing someone major (and I still have my doubts that they will. I think Quentin is as major as they'd risk, since they've shown how unwilling they are to mess with the formula), I think they should leave the space empty on the team. It's a large team already, so they don't necessarily need anyone else.

But I hope it's not Diggle. It's nice to have a tough, capable man around. The problem is, Laurel and Thea are both (more or less) characters from the comic books that they'd have a hard time killing off.

They will. He is a selling point, so there will be something Spider-Man related, I'm sure. They didn't negotiate their butts off just to not use him to draw a crowd.

No. Christopher Reeve was a bad Superman. He was physically wrong for the part, and his instincts about the character were wrong. The only reason that anyone gives him a pass is because he fits the role when it is written/drawn by people who based the character on his portrayal. It is a cycle of suck.

Routh... That is harder. I like him, but I don't know if he is Superman. Of course, he would have to bulk up more than he did for Superman Returns. I think he has some Clark Kent quality, but... I don't know. It would be interesting to see him try it with a good script.

Welling did a good job with him. And despite my early reservations, I really like what Cavill brought to the role. It was a quieter take, which was interesting. George Reeves was a whole different ball game... And of course, there was Affleck.

Ugh. Andy should have stayed dead.

I just don't get why you would disable a character if you didn't plan to do anything with it. It makes no sense to me. Injuries add texture and depth to a story, like adding rain to a scene. I don't know what they were thinking.

With Supergirl, I think that they're trying so hard to tell Clark's story that they're failing to tell Kara's. She remembers the family that died. She came to a world where she couldn't understand anyone, much less fit into the culture. Being sunny and fun is something that she should have to earn... But they jumped forward a decade and have her Clark's personality, his rogues gallery and his outlook on life. They robbed her of her story. That is a horrible thing to do to a character.

By simply remaking Superman as a girl, she can never be anything except who she isn't. She will never be Superman.

I've asked this on another site, but nobody took the question seriously:

How many "homages" will it take before people finally accept the fact that the show is just a stale Superman ripoff? An homage is a clever nod. It's not every episode being taken from the pages of Superman. This is not an homage! This is like calling season 3 of Sliders an homage to 90's film-making.

For me, Arrow has committed some unforgivable storytelling sins. To paralyze one of your central characters and not bother to invest in that story just shows lack of interest. And to set up a pointless mystery (the grave) for no real reason and to have no idea where it is going... They want the big shocking moments, but they couldn't care less about everything surrounding those moments. It's like someone humming a song and only bothering to sing the chorus.

I was an extra for the days that they filmed in Dallas (a speech, the assassination stuff and a couple of other things) and I was a stand-in one day too. Filming in Dealey Plaza in the clothes and with the cars was a really trippy experience. I did some work around Lee Harvey Oswald's house too, which was weird.

Yeah, that makes sense.

On another note, I think it may be time to end Arrow. Maybe give it another season, so the flashbacks catch up with the show (not that it matters, since they failed to really explain how Oliver became the man we saw in season 1). The writers seem bored and the other shows are much more enjoyable. I'd rather see the Arrow characters show up on The Flash or Legends from time to time than see Arrow drag on forever.

By the way, how did 11.22.63 turn out? I am waiting to binge watch it once it's all released. It was one of the coolest projects I've worked on though.

It might be a good way to take Laurel off of Arrow for a while, so she can return as the Black Canary that isn't a sidekick and who could run the Justice League.

I've actually enjoyed the fact that Legends hasn't forced Vandal into every episode. That would make him and the heroes all look weak and stupid.

I guess the level to which you identify with that stuff would depend on your own beliefs. The problem with dealing with real world issues and incorporating them into a story like that is that you can't really throw a quick line in there and be done with it. You have to make that idea make sense to the audience that isn't quite there with you. Even if you're not trying to convince them, you have to make them understand where you're coming from.

Carter's method with the "My Struggle" two parter seems to have been to just throw a string of thoughts into the air and see if any of them landed on their feet. He didn't seem to have a firm grasp of what he believed, much less how it fit into a story that he wasn't really clear on the details of.

(and I leave myself open for similar criticisms, I know)

It should be interesting to see how they turn out. Some of the stuff from the 90's look pretty bad.

Interesting conversation.
For the record, the major changes are done. I won't rewrite anything at this point. I spotted a typo and fixed it today, but most of the work is going into formatting it at this point. Altering anything would mean altering it in two different files (one HTML, the other PDF) and it could make a mess. I usually try to have things mostly settled before I set a release date. It's killing me that I don't have the cover art for book two, which isn't due out until July. I won't be changing any dialogue or descriptions at this point.

Unless I should. I know there are things that I could make better... But I shouldn't. I need to just let it go.

Also, I am always open to sharing advance copies for reviews to people on this board. Yeah, sales are good (plus they make for Amazon certified sales, which are noted in the reviews!) but it always feels weird to me to have people I (more or less) know paying for my work. And reviews go a long way toward helping to make future sales. So one given away now could result in ten sold later.

Have I mentioned that I'm curious to see what you think of the history-building element of the story? Writing it felt like writing a Sliders world... but without anyone from our world to set them straight in an hour. smile

Rob has certainly aged well. It could be good lighting or cameras not capturing great detail, but he does look a lot like he did on Sliders.

I think that format would work. They could keep the "Legends" theme, but alter the rest of it to fit whatever arc they're working with "Legends of Yesterday" "Legends of Magic" "Legends of Oa", etc. I just don't want it to be a firm rule that nobody is allowed to be in more than one season.

The Hawkman thing is easily resolve, I think. He died in the past, so there are a couple of different ways that they could bring him back, even without bringing him back from the dead.

Snart... I get the potential danger of making him too good, but there is an equal danger in not moving the character in either direction out of fear of upsetting the balance. He started out as a villain and became more layered as time went on, even on The Flash. His arc has to go somewhere, or else it's a waste of time. I don't think he will ever be "Barry Allen" good. I think that he is a big picture good guy, but a street level bad guy. He doesn't want to kill. He just doesn't mind taking things from people.

Heatwave is a problem. He was someone who I could never really see becoming a hero. He doesn't have the same code of honor that Snart has. He's interesting to have around, but what happened in the last two episodes was a natural progression for him.

As for the future of the show, I think that they will probably cycle some characters out. Wentworth and Dominic are supposed to be going back to Prison Break soon, right? So I don't know if they'll be around next year. But I don't think that the show needs to wipe the slate clean every single year. I don't know if Rip will be the constant of the series or not, but if the story for next year warrants keeping Sara or Ray around, I don't want them to get kicked off of the show just because they want to have a new cast every year.

Though I don't think Firestorm will stay. Stein has a wife. He can't spend years and years travelling through time. Even if he goes back to the moment he left, he will still age. And he's not exactly young.

My brother has the funniest stories about the fake Microsoft calls. Whenever the guy calls, my brother likes to mess with them. He'll either pretend to have no idea what a computer is, or he will turn the tables and tell the guy on the phone that there is actually something wrong with *his* computer.

It's nice to have fun if you can spare the time.

And on that note... Vote for Cruz! Because a vote for anyone else is a vote for Trump.

I have tried some of the solutions. I even wiped the phone completely at one point. I think there are just space hogs on here, and the inability to shift things to the SD card makes things harder. I can keep things working smoothly, just as long as I don't go crazy and try playing video games or storing videos. smile

I didn't mean my rant to be a review request here (though I'll totally send you the file, because why not?). It's just this fascinating puzzle that I'm constantly trying to work out, getting reviews and generating buzz. I've been reading about other people and how they do things, and I try what they do, but it never seems to work the same way for me. It could just be my writing in general that doesn't look appealing, or the fact that I'm not as aggressive as other people are. I don't know. I have over a month before the release date, so I have some time. It's just getting under my skin.

It is kinda like playing the Ghostbusters Nintendo game from the 80's. I've been trying to beat the game for almost 30 years (not continuously, obviously), but I've never been able to do it. There's this level where you have to climb stairs while ghosts attack you, and no matter which traps I've set or ghost food I've put down, I've never been able to make it to the end without being swarmed by ghosts. I know it's probably designed to keep me from winning, but every once in a while, I still go back to it and it still frustrates the crap out of me. I don't like not being able to solve a puzzle. That's what a lot of this publishing stuff is, only the same answer never works twice, so asking other people how they do it is completely useless.

Ugh.

Seriously, the Donner movie was not good. It was horribly written, horribly directed and horribly cast. The only reason for its popularity is that there weren't a lot of superhero movies at the time. For the past few decades, it's been riding on nostalgia, and the fact that this is the only Superman that a lot of critics know, and therefore any Superman that isn't cartoonishly, stupidly bright and sunny becomes "grim".

Sorry for the delay in response. I meant to respond sooner, but life got in my way. smile

I have 16gb of internal storage. I currently have less than 2gb available. I had to delete the one game that I had on the phone, because it was causing the phone to hang, even when I wasn't playing.

It's frustrating, because I used to be able to store apps on the SD card, and it would save the internal space. Now it seems like everything is stored internally except for pictures and music, even though it still gives me the option to move apps to the SD card. I don't have a ton of useless apps either. I don't know where the space is going.

I would love to be an extra in a movie based on one of my books. Though, in Starlette, I do think it would be fun to play the writer character. smile

Okay, latest venting on life issues:

I feel like I've been repeatedly driving a car into a brick wall over the past week. I've been trying to format the paperback version of my book, but I can't get the spacing right, which results in large gaps on the bottom of some pages. So I've been working and working to resolve that, but it just creates more issues.

Then, I decided to look for people to read advance copies of my book, so I could have reviews lined up when it comes out. You'd think it'd be easy enough. Contact some blogs. Post on some Goodreads groups for people who like to read advance copies... Except my list of blogs to contact blew up when random glitches or quirks with the bloggers prevented me from contacting most of them. And nobody responded to my posts on the Goodreads groups.

Full speed. Brick wall. Splat.

On the bright side, I'm finalizing the Kindle book. I'm sure that it could use more editing, but I've been through it a billion times and anything that I haven't changed by now probably won't be changed. At least I can cross that item off of my list of things to do.

Ah. Another vast right-wing conspiracy.

How did we end up with the Clintons again? We got rid of Bill and his drama, and now we're looking at potentially having them back in the White House again. She's not even there yet and we're already dealing with this crap.

From what I hear, one of Hillary's staff members was just given immunity. They don't usually do that unless there is something to be immune from, and unless there are bigger fish to fry.

It should be interesting to see Hillary defend herself, no matter who she is going up against. Up to this point, she really hasn't had to respond to anything like that in her campaign, and simply laughing about it will not help her this time.

I don't think that the Republicans can necessarily drive the indictment of Hillary. I just think that it is a very real problem for her. Over a thousand emails violated the law, and some of the documents had their top secret headers stripped by Hillary's office.
I think this would be a serious issue for her whether she was running for President or not. She just seems to believe that she is above having to take it seriously. She has done herself no favors by failing to at least pretend to care. (I do suspect that her brain injury a few years back was worse than they reported. Some of her behavior has reminded me of my father, who suffered a major stroke. For example, bursting into laughter at entirely inappropriate moments, failing to understand the context or severity of what people are saying to her)

In other news, Cruz seems to be dominating today's primaries so far. Interesting. He could overtake Trump.

The problem is that the other candidates exist in a different world than Trump. They can't throw around petty insults the way he does, because people expect more of them. So if they just stand there, they look weak next to the schoolyard bully. If they try to hit back, they look petty. They get horrible press either way. And you're right, the voters aren't fact checking or even thinking about what Trump says. He has gone through how many debates without discussing any actual plans, aside from "It's going to be great!"? He is incredibly inconsistent, but none of his supporters are paying attention to that.

If it did come down to Trump vs. Hillary (and assuming that one of the others didn't run as a third party candidate), the debate would be much different. Clinton wouldn't have to defend herself, because the moderators would probably do that for her (as they have done with democratic candidates in the past). More than that, if Trump starts calling her names or demeaning her the way that he does the men on the stage now, the media would jump all over him for it in ways that they don't know. He would be sexist and disgusting, not just brash and embarrassing. The moderators would probably ask more questions about his insults than the fact that Hillary Clinton severely violated national security, on top of all of her other weaknesses and past crimes. Neither one of them would speak a word of truth about Planned Parenthood... it would be a cotton candy carnival act to watch them debate.

And to top it all off, Hillary could potentially be dragged off to prison in the middle of a debate!

Until she is convicted, she could theoretically stay in the race. How the democrats could have allowed themselves to be backed into this corner boggles the mind. If she drops out, it will have to be Biden or nobody... Biden! Or as I like to call him, "Drunk Uncle Biden". The man who literally told a paralyzed man to stand up and take a bow!

Sanders doesn't want to be President. If he did, he'd be calling Hillary on her s--t by now. So I think the democrats are screwed no matter what happens in this cycle. If Hillary is on stage with Trump, he will ignore whatever topics they're supposed to be discussing and he will relentlessly attack her. The media will go after him for it, but his comments will be out there and people will associate her with whatever he says. If she is forced to go and debate Cruz, he has years of practice in courtrooms to use these facts against her. It could almost be worse than Trump, because people take Cruz seriously.

Regardless, unless Romney or McCain end up in the mix again somehow, Hillary Clinton will be called out for the crimes that she has committed.

The democrats must have had better candidates. The problem is that the party establishments usually play this like a game of "who's turn is it" instead of which candidate is the most viable. That's what lost the republicans the last two elections, and what will lose the democrats this one. After Obama, they needed someone who could hit this out of the park, but they won't get it.

Romney refused to actually challenge Obama in the last election. He failed to call him out on any of his crap or failed policies. So seeing him suddenly taking swings at someone (especially in his own party... officially) seems false. Some think that he wants the nomination at a brokered convention. If that's true, I think it's laughable. Not only has he completely sat out this race, but he was such a failure last time, i don't see why anyone would support him again.

I strongly dislike Trump, don't get me wrong. I just find it odd that Romney is choosing now to show his fangs. He is largely to blame for Trump's popularity, along with McCain before him (McCain didn't want to win. He just thought it was his turn to run). People like them are why people dislike the establishment Republicans so much.

Thank you! One of these days, I will get you to take a free book. Mark my words.

From what I hear, pre-order sales all count as day 1 sales. If I can get a good number of them lined up, that might get my sales rankings up high enough to make some of the "best selling" lists, and hopefully that can generate even more sales... which will generate reviews... which will generate sales...

In theory. smile

The Agent Carter finale was pretty good. The series isn't super deep or brilliant, but it accomplishes what Agents of SHIELD doesn't. It tells a well placed story, using characters with real personalities and chemistry. They never un-handicapped Daniel, which I appreciate.

I hope it is renewed for season 3... But AoS should still be cancelled, in my opinion. Easily the worst of the Marvel TV shows.

I don't know that that's true. To go after someone on her level, they would need to have all of their ducks in a row before they did anything, or else Hillary could have a judge toss the case. I've heard that they are looking to do it. It would surprise me if they did, because politicians get away with all kinds of crap, but these are not small issues.

Okay, I'm going down this rabbit hole. Get ready to welcome back the Informant of 2000!

Hillary - I can't believe that the democrats are willing to vote for someone who about to be indicted for breaching national security... not once. Not by mistake. But repeatedly, and as a policy. She (and her rapist husband) has shown no respect for our laws and no care for the men and women who serve this country. Everyone is just a pawn in the Clinton political game. I absolutely see Claire Underwood in her. I'm just not sure how they managed to get such a liberal actress to play a role that is so unforgivingly negative toward democrats.

Sanders - I have some friends who support him. These friends say that his socialism isn't the same as "socialism-socialism". I don't know what that means, but I've chosen to avoid asking. It's better for everyone involved if I just leave that one alone.

Cruz -  I have to disagree with pilight. The people who vote for Cruz don't do it while holding their noses. We actually respect the man. As someone who lives in Texas, this isn't the first time I've supported him and it hopefully won't be the last.
As for whether or not he is eligible to be President, the whole issue is a silly birther myth. He is an American citizen since birth, with an American citizen parent. He is as much a citizen as anyone born to members of the military overseas. If this were a real issue, Trump would have sued him over it a hundred times over by now.

Rubio - Honestly, I don't think it will be as hard to beat Hillary or Sanders as it was to take on Obama. Obama was more of a pop culture movement than a candidate to a lot of people. Democrat voter numbers are down in the primaries. There isn't a lot of excitement behind either candidate. So yeah, I think Rubio could beat Hillary, but I think a lot of people could.
Rubio had the benefit of being the golden child for a while now. He wasn't the establishment's first choice, but with some of those failing to make it this far, he has become their choice. He's just not doing very well, do I'm not sure how long that will last. I think that he would have to be dragged kicking and screaming from this campaign, which could end up hurting the chances of defeating Trump. Let's face it, Rubio and Cruz are splitting votes. If one of them were gone, none of those people are going to Trump, because the people who support them are looking for a serious candidate, not a fireworks show.
At this point, Rubio isn't going to become the leader. What he is hoping for now is a brokered convention, where he hopes that the establishment who adopted him in recent weeks will push him as the nominee. However, if the establishment is forced (and I mean *forced*) to admit that Cruz is the stronger candidate, a brokered convention might not get Rubio anywhere.

It's a mess. It could be cleaned up if some people were willing to put the country ahead of their egos, and realize that Trump would be a big orange disaster. But they won't. The top three will probably remain in the race until the end. We'll get a brokered convention. At that point, I guess we'll all be surprised to see who actually gets the nomination. No matter who it is, I don't think it will be hard to take on Hillary, especially if she is indicted in the middle of the campaign.

Carson... Right... Umm... I do agree with pilight there.

It may not be Trump. If Carson, Kasich and Rubio dropped out, I think Cruz could take it. At the very least, it could lead to a brokered convention, where I don't think Trump would win.

But Rubio won't drop out. So Trump may get it. Rubio will want a brokered convention at this point, because it is really his only chance. I don't think Rubio will even take Florida, which is bad for him.

It suddenly struck me today... They're releasing Batman v Superman on Easter weekend!

Will that help the movie or hurt it? And while I'm asking questions, does Ben Affleck look a little botox-y to anyone else lately?

I kinda like the way The Flash handled this. They cast actors from he original, while allowing new actors to take over the major roles. Then they let us know that the original show did exist, but in a different universe. It respects the original. It allows for the nostalgia, but it doesn't tie the show to what came before.

On another note, I've seen both Girl Meets World and Fuller House and found them both well made. GMW is obviously for the young Disney audience, but Fuller House actually had me laughing quite a bit. I think that I signed up for the nostalgia, but I'm sticking around because I find the show to be genuinely entertaining. It's refreshing to have a nice, clean, family friendly show that is actually enjoyable. Most of the sitcoms out there today are trying to be "edgy" or "culturally relevant", so they come across as aggressively raunchy or overly preachy. You'd expect Fuller House to be preachy with it's morals and family values, but I don't know... it's just fun for me.

Well, I have officially received word from Kindle Scout, and Freedom/Hate was not chosen to be published through them.

That said, the book is still going to be published by me, on April 19. It will be available for pre-order within a day. The beauty of modern publishing. smile

UPDATE: The pre-order site is up even faster than I thought it would be! http://amzn.com/B01CDF5XWE
