FWIW, I was in the Toronto airport on Saturday morning, heading to the Fan Expo downtown, and spotted Jerry O'Connell there reading a script!  Briefly said hello and exchanged pleasantries.  A lot of science fiction is shot there now, so he could be popping up in something soon....

I think the bottom line, regardless of what side you are on or whatnot, was that Trump was CLEARLY unwilling to come down hard against white nationalism.  Also, Antifa is called far left.  Wouldn't anyone who defies facism by definition be middle of the road?

I'd assume Trump would be one of two things to The X-Files lore....some kind of alien masquerading as a President, aka an X-File himself.  OR someone who is rabidly interested in the program, I mean, he's basically the editor of the National Enquirer.

The show has unfortunately devolved into a soap.  Out of ideas.  Season was pretty bad arc-wise.  Now they're saying there's NO end in sight, and old characters will return, I guess from the dark universe, IDK.

Meanwhile Trump and co. are just racking up the potential obstruction of justice complaints.  I also give props to the Boy Scouts of America for publicly disassociating themselves from Trump, who gave a profanity filled, stump speech that had no place there.  I wouldn't care if this guy had the politics of Bernie Sanders, he's a habitual liar, he has zero interest in governing or the American people.  It's all about him and his dumb family.  And no Donald, the White House is not a big dump!!!!!!!  It's not about lavish, it's about service.  You sir are simply pathetic.

Rogue One was a terrific film for Star Wars fans, but with a Mission Impossible or James Bond feel for most of the film.  I think it's finally on Netflix so I may give it another watch tonight!

PS: Most of those CG people were in fact not CG!  ha ha.

Well, remember, my taste when it comes to Marvel is unorthodox.  I prefer the individual stories, rather than the conglomerated mess called Avengers.  I also need buy in.  Give me a reason to watch your stupid series from start to finish.  Iron Fist did that.  Cage and Jones did the opposite.  Heck, Legion did it even moreso.

I've been for that for years.

Finished Iron Fist on Netflix. Hands down the best series they've done in MCU so far. Great story, action, stunts, as well as acting. Episode flow was terrific, something MCU/Netflix is abysmal at.

Wheaton could be making a steady paycheck at conventions, but he doesn't do many.  In fact, I've read/heard many stories about him being less than friendly, if not plain rude with fans.

I'm also hearing that Batgirl is picking up steam as well!  Ehhhhhhhhh

You simply cannot defend Trump on this.  The media should be covering the Republican health care plan that will act like a bomb on the current healthcare system.

For whatever the reason, 17-24 minutes (depending on broadcaster) was inserted back into the film for TV back in the 1980's.  These scenes, including the arrest I believe, were shot by Donner.  That's why in many ways, the "Donner cut" might be further from the theatrical version but not as far apart from the broadcast one.  I saw it awhile ago, and compared it to the original, and frankly I barely see that much of a difference.  Still a good movie no matter what.

BR 2049 looks very good, and this comes from someone who isn't a fan of the original.

Hmm, this was 4 years ago, and I think what I conveyed shortly after was lost in a prior BBoard collapse.  Mainly I was impressed he recalled all the details of the episode (Common Ground), and that he had a passion for the Kromanus character.  I wish he'd do another convention, as I just started a Monster Squad cast poster, and need him on it.  Ha ha.

Saw Wonder Woman last night, as most have said, great film. Limited CGI, intrigue and mystery, and period piece elements. Gadot did an excellent job as well, she's really right for the part. How ironic that the Justice League trailer preceded this film, and looked like even more of a mess than BvS.

I could have asked Sasso a question about Sliders during the Q&A, which wouldn't have made much sense there, but I honestly couldn't think of a good one.  Same for Juarbe.  Honestly, they were goofy characters they played, but they almost never played an integral role in any of the episodes.  Nothing like say Stephen Macht, who I spoke at length with about Kromaggs, and he had some strong feelings about them still.

Hey all, so in the process of my celebrity photo and autograph collecting, it's always an added bonus to run into actors who portrayed cool characters in Sliders.  As the moons aligned, I was able to meet BOTH of the actors who portrayed the goofy barkeep Gomez Calhoun!  First such occasion was in New York, for a fan screening for the Audience Network comedy Loudermilk, starring Will Sasso and Ron Livingston.  Grabbed a few shots with Will on the street, and sat through the screening and Q&A which was a lot of fun.  Unfortunately they pretty much rushed him in and out though.

About a month later, there was a crummy "con" that was billed as a Karate Kid reunion.  Macchio was there, along with several Cobra Kai actors.  A super late addition was that of Israel Juarbe, who had a minor role as Daniel's friend.  This was a cool one for me, obviously, as he played the character 3 times during the Sci-Fi era.  I actually got to talk to him about his roles in Boogie Nights and Sliders.  Though to be honest, despite being a nice guy, he didn't have much to say about it other than "yeah that guy (Gomez) was a lot of fun/funny guy."  Wish I had something more interesting to report on, but that was basically that.  I split the photo with a friend.

Hard to say.  I personally thought the trailer for The Mummy was top notch, and I still enjoyed the movie.  However, I understand the public sentiment.  It's not a "Mummy" movie, it's a Tom Cruise movie.  Now I'm a fan of his action work, but I can see how many have probably grown tired of him.  You're not watching The Mummy, you're watching Cruise with The Mummy as background.  IDK, maybe they just should have remade the Monster Squad!

Also, I think it's important to note that Alex Kurtzman probably wasn't the best choice here, despite having a VERY involved Cruise on set.  Goes back to my long-standing criticism of just about everything he and Roberto Orci touch.  Usually vapid trash that makes tons of money, or vapid, boring trash that doesn't.

They do the same thing for a sports story.  "On condition of anonymity."  I don't see what the big deal is?  Hillary was sunk by the same nonsense that put Captain Orange in the White House.  What goes around, comes around.  This is the same President to lies day and night, and literally makes stuff up about people, such as questioning the prior President's birth certificate.

Hate to spoil your party, but most of these leaks are completely LEGAL!  Leaking classified information is not, but very little of this is.  Information is leaked in criminal investigations all the time, and frankly what evidence has been leaked?  I haven't seen much of anything.  Someone "leaking" that Mueller is possibly investigated Trump.  How is that illegal or illegitimate in any fashion?  Someone IS going to prison, this crazy girl who leaked and was caught recently, but she had nothing to do with the Russia investigation.

Now, here's the issue.  The prosecutor might have enough to charge Trump; however, the Justice Department, as a matter of procedure, has always stopped short of doing so to a sitting President.  Instead, they turn that over to the House, who must decide on impeachment.  Well, this GOP controlled body I would assume would never go forward with that.  So short of forcing Trump to resign, or wait until Dems potentially take control for 2019, all of this may not result in anything.

That being said, Trump's agenda is DOA.  He's become a de facto lame duck, not even 6 months in!  And it's 100% his OWN FAULT.  His asinine comments on NBC News about why he fired Comey were the dumbest he could have said.  He can't help himself.  He's gotten away with numerous violations of law and finance throughout his career, so he feels invincible.

I think the draw to this WW film is that, for the first time since probably Dark Knight, a DC film has a decent script.

Some of the interviews are fun to read, but most have been superseded by more "open" interviews they've given over the last few years.

You're correct, if all religion could be somehow excised and the human brain made to never conceive of any of it again, we'd all be better for it.

To me, WW looked good because, at least from the trailer, it seemed to have a story with good character interaction.  Again I liked Man of Steel, but Dark Knight Rises and BVS and Suicide Squad I felt were all very muddy.

Saw Guardians Vol 2 the other night, and enjoyed it quite a bit.  The ending and credits were dumb, and Stallone was pointless, but the film really felt like I was watching an 80's cartoon!

I've been to Alamo, and I HATE IT!  The whole dinner theater thing sucks if you ask me.  People eating smelly, messy food during the film!

Anyway, saw the WW trailer prior to Guardians and Alien over the weekend, and frankly it looks damn good.

Jared Kushner met with Russia's ambassador to US at Trump Tower in December

President's son-in-law reportedly proposed a secret back-channel of communications between Trump's campaign and the Kremlin

Kushner reportedly suggested to Sergey Kislyak that Russian diplomatic facilities be used in order to avoid detection by US authorities

Investigators believe the matters discussed during the meeting have relevance to ongoing probe into alleged ties between Trump campaign and Russia

Reuters is reporting that Kushner had at least three previously undisclosed contacts with the Russian ambassador during and after the 2016 campaign

I'm not sure if this is illegal or not, but it's DAMNED UNAMERICAN if you ask me. This family has sold us out to the Ruskies.  Again, forget Obamacare or North Korea or Ford plants in Mexico, we need to focus first and foremost on whether this White House and it's underlings are perhaps the most un-American, corrupt, and unethical ever witnessed?

Let's not forget that most of the older Trek shows were comprised of theatrically trained actors.  I've never heard of most of these actors, and there's no evidence yet that Jason Isaacs or Anthony Rapp will play as large a role as many of the newcomers.  To me this looks like a very "Enterprise" cast.

Finding the social commentary on this show might be like combing through hair for lice!  If the trailer has anything to do with it.  These writers nowadays don't know how to do it.  TOS and TNG did it with over the top figures.  Heck look at Sliders, where Tracy and the early writers did it satirically.

Trump just handed over intelligence that was classified and given to him as such.  It came from the Israelis, who clearly had no intention of sharing it with the Russians.  He uses an unsecure phone to tweet and such.  He basically admitted to firing Comey to keep the pressure of himself.  I really do not see how this guy stays in office?  Again, this has nothing to do with politics.  I abhor the politics of Mike Pence, but at least I can trust him to not be this careless nor employ a team of traitors either.

Hope not.  This makeup is simply too much.  Again this proves how clueless new filmmakers are these days.  They overuse makeup, CGI, camera effects, and the like, all the time.  Tell me how we get a performance like those of John Colicos, Michael Dorn, Christopher Lloyd, Tony Todd, or Robert O'Reilly through that reptilian makeup?  They don't know what they're doing.

Info, this is not about politics.  This is about the LAW and the CONSTITUTION.  Barack Obama like George W. Bush before him, were not perfect, but they were decent, good men with morals, and were capable of deep thought and KNEW the definition of justice.  They did not lie constantly.  This is a totally different animal.  Republicans are sick of this scumbag.  This has NOTHING to do with Washington's "swamp."  This is 100% about a maniac now running the country.

Donald Trump has fired the acting AG Sally Yates, US Attorney of NYC Preet Bharara, and now FBI Director James Comey.  How many more law enforcement officials will this con artist get rid of before the GOP finally do what they are PAID to do, which is to provide oversight and checks and balances?  Would I personally want a President Pence?  Of course not, but this guy needs to go.

General Michael Hayden summed it up perfectly last night or night before on Anderson 360.  He said that Trump behaves like a dictator/autocrat in Central America.  He lies non-stop, almost comically.  He threatens everyone.  He has an incredibly small inner circle, and barely speaks to anyone outside of that, including tons of nepotism.  He's 99.9% ego.

In some ways, one cannot blame Donald.  This is who he is, and he never tried to be something else.  It goes back to the sheer amazement I have that people could actually vote for a guy who has this kind of putrid past in business.  At this point, as I predicted, he simply cannot accept government.  He, and Bannon, wish to destroy it.  They wish to destroy the very institutions that hold the government and thus the country together.  None of them are off limits.  There's never been this type of danger to the Republic since The Civil War.  Whether this moron lasts 2 years, 4 years, whatever, the damage he will inflict to the institutions of this nation will take much longer to repair, if ever.

FWIW I too find most of the MCU films fun to watch ONCE, and never again.  GOTG, Ant-Man, Dr. Strange are exceptions, because they have stories.  Daredevil was good, the rest of what Netflix has done has been dreadful.  Will see about Iron Fist but not hopeful.  FWIW I did Legion on FX, but it's probably too cerebral for most viewers.

LEGO killing it, but remember that's a children's comedy.  As for Dr. Strange, that one was never counted on as a blockbuster for Marvel.  It's esoteric.  However, it's part of the Marvel roadmap, and keeps the fans happy.  Suicide Squad fits where?  The biggest carryover characters are Harley and Joker.  Harley I feel is a terrible character to be the lead, and despite Margot's hotness, won't carry a film.  The Joker without Batman?  No thanks.

That scene sold the show for me, so funny.

I TRIED watching Agends of SHIELD back when Agent Carter was paired with it.  I just couldn't.  Nothing against it, but it reminded me of how TV was produced 15, 20, 25 years ago.  That's actually a good thing, but 20-something episodes series are REALLY a pain to keep up with, and the story/characters didn't catch me enough.

They're way over 60.  2 Daredevil, Jessica, Cage, Fist, and Punisher would be 78, and then Defenders would be 86.

I finally got through Luke Cage.  60% of it was well done, engaging, but 40% of it was downright awful.  The copy Misty I think was the best character on it.  Better than Jessica Jones, which was unwatchable, but not by much.  Hopefully Iron Fist and then Defenders return to Daredevil levels.  However, I would agree with Info, the lack of storytelling is really amazing.  Stranger Things got it right, in and out in 8 episodes.  Same with The OA, another great show.  10-13 is just too much.

Saw the first couple episodes of Legion, it's all over the place, but I'm getting it and will keep watching.

I'm not even going to discuss the rioting, as no serious political group supports that crap.  However, come on, hatred?  We had people on this thread stating they HATED Hillary!  Obama was HATED by the right.  Tea Partiers had very disgusting signs when they gathered.  It's free speech.  Trump has unilaterally signed orders that a LOT of people don't like.  He is free to do this, but the backlash is there because A) he lost the popular vote and barely won a half dozen states and B) these impact people greatly.  I love it.  This is the most ALIVE democracy and the first amendment has felt in quite a long time.

I do not expect bipartisanship on the drug pricing.  They tried, and hell, our NJ Senators (supposed liberals) voted it down, because that's big business here.  And he'll eventually lose on the wall.   Nobody wants to pay for it.

Now he's important environmental and financial regulations left and right, without any replacement available.  He's trying to do the same with Obamacare, but Congress knows that would cause chaos.

Kelly Anne last night blatantly LIED and made up a terrorist attack that never happened to prove the anti-refugee order.

I really don't care about the Trump pettiness, it's the lying.  Lying and ignoring facts.

775

(2,572 replies, posted in Sliders Bboard)

Trump is a joke.  He's already LOST his "who pays for the wall" tiff with the President of Mexico, and yesterday didn't have the balls to stand up to the drug companies over prescription drug pricing.  Pretty soon he'll understand why and how Obama was unable to move on many of these issues.  He's a total buffoon, and it's clear his central "team" as expected have no clue what "finesse" is required in that office.  They've done nothing but make gaffes and alienate tons of people, and again, this is less than 2 weeks in.

Even my dog, who by dog standards I will freely admit, not the sharpest knife in the drawer, would have realized the country is highly polarized.  How about I begin with a proposal that will get bipartisan support?  How about we fix our damn infrastructure????  Democrats would have gone along with this, as would Governors and CEO's everywhere.  Instead this moron has freaked or flat pissed off Democrats, Republicans, Governors, CEO's, and whoever else, in just TWO WEEKS!  His scorched earth policy simply will not work.

CBS also has a stronger affiliate network.  Frankly they could air 30 minutes of Info on the toilet reading a comic book, and it would get better ratings than a Fox show winning Emmy's.  It's a flawed system.

Definitely a good one, felt like one of the old cartoons.

Yeah the show goes dark again after tonight.  Something I just found out from a tweet by one of the actors!

Obama executive orders were done so, and implemented, over a period of time so that the government could adjust and educate in a timely manner.  This allowed time to object to them, before implementation.  Trump on the other hand is acting like a dictator, issuing edicts without consultation, that are causing people and government to meltdown.  His approach is a disaster, and nearly everything he does now will be protested and subject to law suits, because he is doing it unilaterally like a strong man.

On immigration, the problem is Trump is picking and choosing.  He absurdly said Syrian Christians were welcome, an outrageous statement, and honestly, how can you prove someone's true religion?  He also conveniently left off Saudi Arabia and Egypt, where Trump has business in, but who have exported several terrorists.  Secondly, we are already vetting, in most cases it takes YEARS to get into the United States, refugee or not, legally.  These people had done their due diligence, and Trump blocked them at the door, really for no good reason.  He has no clue how government operates.  As for best interest, most with experience feel that the ban will ultimately HARM US interests.  Regardless, the vetting process now is about as good as it can be.  To expect POOR refugees to even HAVE cellphones let alone to turn over the contacts and browsing history is pretty hilarious.  Who is this going to catch?  ROFL!  These people are not just dumped onto the street, they are sponsored by relatives, as well as often religious groups, same as probably most Americans' ancestors were years ago.  The vetting is extreme, unlike obtaining a gun, which is a hilariously easy thing to do, and has cost far more lives than "refugee terrorism."  The point though, why couldn't this have been discussed first?

His moves on national security are frankly, frightening.  He placed self-professed LENINIST (aka anarchist) Steve Bannon on the National Security Council, while limiting the participation of the UN Ambassador, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and Director of National Intelligence.  Here again, come the accusations that Trump doesn't give a damn about the facts on the ground OR diplomacy.  Sorry, but this is unbelievably insane shit.

As for Obamacare, the Democrats made a calculation.  Perhaps it was wrong, but the GOP were unwilling to agree to much of anything in healthcare.  They decided that something HAD to be done about the system.  They did it.  Pre-existing conditions, loss of employment, kids aging but without work, and financial ruin from healthcare costs were ALL dealt with.  No the solution wasn't perfect, but here again, Trump's demolish and "rebuild" approach is objected to by even many Republicans.  Governors certainly don't want to blow up the system overnight the way he does.

Once more, the protests, which have been largely peaceful, will continue, because Trump's approach has been so awful.  He won't change of course.  He'll just fire people who tell him to.

They've been jumping around pretty badly, yes.  There doesn't seem to be a great arc to follow either, just characters being angry with each other.  Strange.  Jessica Lucas/Erin Richards continue to have my attention though!
