Within a few months of Season 10, there was news that FOX was negotiating for a new TV season of the show. After Season 10's comics ended and Season 11 was about to begin, FOX announced a TV Season 11. It became very clear that the IDW comics were being cast aside. A planned 25 issue Season 11 became just eight issues and a special, and the final comic had a scene where Mulder looks into windows across spacetime and sees a parallel universe containing the TV version of himself and Scully (with the "My Struggle" outfits and hairstyles).
And now... Dynamite is releasing a new comic to be written by Joe Harris: The X-Files. Despite speculation that it might be a reboot, Joe confirmed to the press: his comics are set after the TV Season 11. Effectively a continuation that is using the empty void left by the absence of a TV show...

Except that Ryan Coogler's TV revival was just announced as going to series! And Kimon tells me: the new TV show is not a reboot. It is set in the same continuity as the original, but Mulder and Scully will likely have stepped back or retired; a new team will take over the X-Files; and the original mythology (such as it was) will be said to be over and done with in favour of a new one.

]]>My guess is that it takes a lot of time to recreate props to photograph them and create plausibly aged documents before scanning them, and Paul Terry may be balancing that work with other jobs.
the first book was unbelievably well done so i guess i could see how the production process could be so demanding.

This too is nonsense: we have 16 episodes to know what Carter would have done if given the opportunity to do more X-FILES, so his comments are simply trying to regain control of his narrative and imply that his critically-panned work in the myth-arc episodes is leading to some more impressive story in the future. It's very easy to have impressive work in the future so long as that future never arrives.

Interestingly enough chris recently met with David and was going to be speaking to Gillian soon
He has his continuation idea. I think he is well aware coogler now gets first dibs to steer the universe.
It would be interesting if coogler elevated the franchise, but didn't have his own mulder/scully storylines and coogler ended up helping get Chris another shot to continue the franchise.. Disney would likely be weary if Carter could do anything that would make commercial sense since the property has become niche and its mythology but one never knows. Coogler could make X files ip so big again that Disney just wants more and carter benefits.
Gillian of course has been weary of Chris at this point but I think she recognizes that there are a lot of fans, including female fans, and would be thinking of them too, if Carter was the only route to continue.
She obviously would jump at a coogler project. But it might not make sense for him creatively to merge his storylinss with mully/Scudder and I doubt he would do it for the sake of it.
