I thought the guy who ran The Tomorrow People was running Legends. Did that change?

I don't think that Black Lightning will impact the Arrowverse too much. They're filming in Atlanta (for the pilot anyway), so it will probably be its own thing.

I guess it was harmless. I mean, it probably didn't give me cancer or anything. smile

I had family in town, so I still haven't finished Iron Fist.

We did watch Doctor Strange though. So... Yeah.

Yeah, I don't get Legends. The producers talk as though they have solved all of the problems from season 1, but season 2 was an even bigger mess. Are they putting no thought into this at all?

I do think it'd be interesting if the Legends were responsible for creating the multiverse, but the producers seem to dodge good ideas as though they were diseased somehow.

I'm good with Castiel and Crowley appearing less, and people like Claire appearing more.

I got it!

Everyone assumes that the flashbacks will be ending this year. What if they don't? Five years ago, Laurel was alive. So season 1 becomes the flashbacks!

I just saved the producers a ton of money!

I wish I could unknow this news. sad

I like Batgirl, but Joss is not the man for the job. Or any job.
He should stick to Marvel.

I'm also curious as to why Eobard would have made Felicity a masked hero in his world.

I don't think we're supposed to think too much about LoT. We're just supposed to look at the pretty pictures and not wonder about why, say, this "rewritten" reality was so easily zapped out of people with a McGuffin gun. I mean, reality itself was supposedly rewritten. They weren't just new memories that were implanted. It would have been more interesting to have the Legends exist outside of this new reality, since they were in the timestream when it was altered, so they aren't different, but they still have altered versions of themselves to battle. Maybe those doubles would even exist once they fixed things, so there would be two of everyone, thus explaining why none of them really matter to the timeline. Then we could see Sara or Ray show up on the other shows without having to involve the Legends.

Spoilers for next season of Arrow!!!
.
.
.
.
.

It's been reported that Katie Cassidy will be returning to Arrow as a series regular next season. The official report says that she will be playing Black Siren next year, after appearing in the final two episodes of Arrow this year, and the season finale of LoT next week (where she will be playing normal Laurel).

Is it possible that this is a misdirect, and LoT will actually be bringing Laurel back to life? Or would that even be what we want to happen at all? Is Katie more interesting as Black Siren than Black Canary?

Star Wars was able to do it.  You can watch all the trailers and promos and not really learn much of anything.  I think the Deadpool trailers created the right feel without ruining the movie.  Guardians has done a pretty good job.

The trailers for Life apparently did the same thing - tell the movie in two minutes beat by beat.  I think the BvS trailer (and I know I'm banned from talking about it) shouldn't have spoiled the Doomsday bit.  I think they need to do one of two things:

1. Let the directors edit the trailer (or they can let someone they trust do it).  Having 3rd parties make the trailers creates a situation where their goals (making a cool trailer) don't mesh with the goals for the movie (get people interested in movie).

2. Only provide scenes from the first two acts to the 3rd party.  Most genre movies have a big action setpiece in the first two acts, and all you really need to know is the inciting incident to get a feel for what the plot is going to be.

If we're talking about The Force Awakens, I think it might be because there was no plot to give away. smile

With BvS, people like to blame Snyder for the missteps, but I think the studio genuinely doesn't know what to do with those movies. They don't know how to market to comic book fans, and they aren't comic book fans themselves, so they don't know what's good and what isn't. This is probably why they edited a lot of Superman's story out of BvS when they got their hands on it. People love Batman and he makes a lot of money, so play that up. With the trailer, they just wanted to throw everything at the wall and see what stuck, I think.

Especially because the people making those movies now aren't creating the simple tellings of those stories anymore, which is a lot easier to do than to really explore the characters. Snyder's version of the movie was much more solid. Plus, it set up Justice League a little bit more by letting us get a glimpse of... wait, you haven't seen it. I won't spoil that.

The directors and editors should probably make the trailers.

I've tried flashing new ROMs in the past, with a mixed record of success. I have never had trouble with Samsung's interface though, so it hasn't been a huge point for me. Either way, I definitely prefer to have the option. My S4 is locked, preventing me from flashing any ROMs, which annoys me. But that's more of an AT&T thing, I think.

What I am really looking for in a new phone is something that will last me a while. When I get a phone, it's the phone that I'm going to have for the next four or five years. I want something that won't be obsolete within a month. I still like my S4 in a lot of ways, but I know that the processors now are faster, the battery life is longer, screens are crisper, the phones are resistant to water and dust (which is a nice feature, considering that I really don't use a case very often). I don't plan on using fingerprints or anything like that, so that's not a big deal for me, but if the new Bixby AI is everything that it's supposed to be, that could be a pretty big deal as well.

I just like Samsung products. I like their phones, their watches, their TVs, etc.

I think the SD card merging thing has been resolved in more current models, but I could be wrong. I would love that.

It might be worth holding off for a while though. There's a rumor that they will be announcing another phone later this year that could be more impressive than the S8. Even if it's just a Note, the S-Pen might be worth the wait. My brother has a Note and it seems like a really nice feature to have.

But yeah, there's a chance that I'll eventually flash a custom ROM. I just don't always have the best of luck with them.

Luke Cage sucked though. It was painful to get through. Claire didn't save it. I might rather go to the dentist and get my teeth drilled than sit through that series again. It was horrible. Which is sad, because Luke was a strong character on Jessica Jones.

I'm still watching Iron Fist. Still liking it.

I know what a homecoming dance is. I just didn't expect a superhero movie to have a school dance as its big draw.

Winter Soldier. The First Avenger. Civil War. Age of Ultron... Homecoming.

I guess it can be pretty harrowing, trying to pin a boutonnière to a super suit. And it's going to be a tough moment when it's time to take pictures and he doesn't want to remove his mask.
Finally, the film will end with a chase scene after Spider-Man gets his date home after her curfew, and her father chases him through the city with a shotgun.

Second thought, I might love this movie.

Ah. Interesting.

I will reserve judgement on that until I see it on Netflix. smile

Seriously though... Don't the new Spider-Man posters look more like the posters for an animated movie than live action? Bright colors aside, they don't even look photographic and the composition is weird. Someone went a little crazy in Photoshop.

I haven't been keeping up with news on this movie. What does "Homecoming" refer to, aside from Disney getting the ability to integrate him into their franchise? Does the story involve him coming back to New York after some great amount of time? I'm a little confused.

I saw it. It looks great. The group dynamic looks really interesting. I like what they're doing with Aquaman. It looks fun, but not like a Saturday morning cartoon. The trailer reminded me that we could see entire armies of Amazons and Atlantians. That could be cool.

It's weird that we all know that Superman will be back, but they're making me very eager to see how and when that happens.

So far, so good.

I'm a Samsung fan. I've had other brands, but found them incredibly frustrating. I finally stopped messing around with other brands when I had a Motorola and they released an update that wasn't stable and made the phone unusable... Then they stopped supporting the phone and wouldn't respond to customers who wanted their phone to be functional again.

I've had my S4 for about four years now, I think. Something like that. It is starting to get a bit slow and glitchy, but that could be because I'm constantly adding new technology, like watches and smart home  technology. Overall, the phone has lasted quite a while, despite not being kept in any sort of case unless my niece or nephew are around.

I want the S8. Yeah, I want Samsung Pay, but I could get that with a refurbed S6 or S7. I want the better camera. The new AI which is supposed to be really good (Alexa has spoiled me). I want the 6.2 inch screen of the S8 Plus, despite the smaller frame. I like the rumor that you'll be able to plug into a monitor and use  a the phone like an Android computer. I'm not saying that I will necessarily get an S8, but I want one. smile

I hate that providers have taken away the option of free or reduced-price upgrades, because cell phones are ridiculously expensive now. If I go for a cheaper option, it will probably just be an older Samsung.

The first Justice League poster released was a picture of Aquaman with the words "Unite the Seven" written on it. So... Who would be the seven?
Batman
Superman
Wonder Woman
Aquaman
The Flash
Cyborg
???

People think it is Green Lantern, but I think Henry Cavill is teasing that a little hard if it's supposed to be a mystery.

Black Adam? Dwayne Johnson was cast a long time ago, for a movie that won't be coming out for a while. And they have a Black Adam, but no word on Captain Marvel himself. So... Maybe?

Or it could mean something else entirely, I suppose.

I bet we could have the best podcast ever. We could have a sixteen-part series on Man of Steel, and then move on to the more controversial stuff.

...but I hate the sound of my own voice. Dueling Bloggers? smile

If you do start a Kickstarter campaign, just give me the money. The new Samsung Galaxy is coming out soon and I need to save money for one, because my S4 is slowing down. So that, and maybe some marketing for my books to reduce the stress level... Then I can promise to pretend to have fun for a while.

Seriously though, I have fun. I get my kicks by seeing good work in movies and television. Man of Steel was beautiful. I enjoy it. Batman v Superman was exciting. I enjoy it. Suicide Squad was genuinely fun. I don't enjoy seeing people praising work that the makers obviously didn't care about. To me, that's not fun. So while we might disagree on what we enjoy and have fun with, I promise that I do have fun. I don't think that you have to sacrifice critical thinking or lower expectations in order to have fun. I don't think that writers or actors should be able to half-ass their work because "Fun!"

Amazon's series, Patriot... most people would see it as simply brooding and depressing and they'd hate it. I see a lot of interesting work going into it. I like it!

I may or may not know the words to the Girl Meets World theme song.

Starlette is fun. And while people have said that Freedom/Hate is too oppressively depressing (it's book one of a dystopian series!), I think that allowing the characters to have those feelings makes their joy more honest and genuine.

Yeah, I think that Oliver probably has that warrior thing going on. He probably enjoys killing bad people and stopping them from doing bad things. I don't think he enjoys taking human life as much as he enjoys stopping the bad guy. Prometheus is the opposite. He is everything that he accuses Oliver of being (killing in the name of his father), but I think all of his motives are just an excuse to kill people and cause chaos. And Evelyn... I have no idea.

Hey, Oliver and I have a lot in common. We enjoy darkness because it serves a greater good!

869

(1,098 replies, posted in Sliders Bboard)

They should reveal him, but maybe later. He could be "dark" Superman when he returns, so maybe have him facing away, or hovering above the others. But we all know he is in it. Henry Cavill keeps posting about it, so it isn't any kind of mystery. They should just own it and use it in their promotional material somehow.

That'd be cool.

Also, I am capable of having fun! I just have a hard time enjoying low quality material. I have an analytical mind, and "fun" doesn't automatically mean half-assed or poor quality.

So stop cyber bullying me!!!

I think I know what you're referring to. We'll see how that goes. ☺

It would be cool to have a crossover with bad versions of people up against their good counterparts. I think that Harry Wells could have a double on Kara's Earth, so that would be an easy crossover. And Kara could exist on Earth 1 or Earth 2. It would be fun to play with alternate versions of these characters.

Arrow was interesting this week. His "secret" was predictable, but it adds a weird, disturbing wrinkle to the character. I still don't think they really thought through Evelyn's arc, because her character makes zero sense. You could say the same about Adrian, but we can chalk that up to "crazy".
Is Felicity's hacker group providing Adrian with information? He seems to know things that no amount of research could tell him, and Felicity may have given them a backdoor into her system without realizing it. Her pain/anger could have resulted in a major slip on her part.

Overall, season 3 is turning out okay. I think that Curtis is still struggling to find his place as a character. He may be more useful on Legends or the new Black Lightning show (not because he is black!).

Talia should have her ass kicked by Nyssa.

I didn't mind Kara when she appeared in the other crossover, but with this one, I don't think the crossing over worked well. Both she and Barry were acting like mentally ill children, which got old fast. It seems like they're just trying to give Barry and Kara the old Barry/Felicity dynamic, but it's not working. And I don't get Barry making comments about Superman. He knows nothing about Superman. At all.

The cast is talented, no doubt. Jeremy Jordan (Winn) is a Broadway actor, so he didn't really surprise me (I watched a musical movie with him on Netflix not too long ago). And Carlos Valdez does a lot of singing, so I expected him to do okay too. The thing is... it just didn't fit this show.

Yes, Grant can tap dance. No, Barry can't. Seeing him do it just removed me from that scene.

The thing about musicals is that the music has to be an incredibly vital part of the characters. This is their dialogue, revealing something about their inner selves. This episode only had two original songs, which means that most of the music was pasted into it. You would never copy and paste dialogue from an old movie, into your own script. It doesn't work. It never works. Yet, people keep doing it!

The Buffy musical worked despite the fact that most of the cast couldn't sing, because it was still such a big character exploration. This episode didn't work despite the fact that the cast could sing, because it had nothing to do with the characters. It was a waste of time. (and why would Barry's own mind create a world where Joe and Stein are a couple? That's just... weird. And I'm not sure why he'd include Malcolm at all. Have they ever even met?)

Blah. I hated this episode. Only one of the original songs was remotely good. The Super Friends song was so forced and contrived, it was painful to watch. On top of that, the Supergirl world just doesn't mix well with the Arrowverse. It's silly, like Lost in Space meets Angel. Maybe next time they want to bring Kara into one of the Arrowverse shows, they should just add Power Girl to the mix.

He must have already done that, because any timeline where that episode exists is the wrong timeline.

The Flash musical:

No. Please stop. Make this episode go away. Undo it, undo it! It is so painfully bad.

Further proof that critics are useless idiots. Iron Fist has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 17% from critics! Audience score of 87%... Which is closer to where it should be. And the critics comments are largely political, with cries of racism, cultural appropriation, "mansplaining"... It's like they don't care about the writing, acting or directing, and only care about their SJW bingo cards.

I have watched the first two episodes of Iron Fist. I have thoughts.

1. I don't know what the critics are smoking. This show is closer to Daredevil quality than JJ or LC were. Are they really just pissing and moaning over race issues?

2. Honestly, I know nothing about this character going in. He definitely has Bruce Wayne/Oliver Queen stuff going on, but it's working well so far. I'm interested in following this.

3. I can't judge the whole series yet. There could well be a slump coming up. That seems to be a thing with these shows. But if they can hold this quality of character/story, I will be happy.

4. I do have some issues. It felt weird to have the doctor look at Danny as though he were crazy for referencing other dimensions when they exist in a universe full of alien invasions and mythical gods using a magic hammer to fly. Also, Danny probably could have helped himself by replacing a few "could we just talk?" lines with some "you once poured pancake batter on my head" type lines.

5. I find myself sitting here, waiting for Claire to show up. I know she's around here somewhere. smile

6. Why am I numbering these thoughts?

878

(1,098 replies, posted in Sliders Bboard)

Yeah, I always give credit to Disney for their marketing skills. Like Apple, it doesn't even matter what they put out most of the time. They have it a bit easier with the Marvel movies, because this is really the world's first on-screen exposure to most of these characters, so they can do basic origin stories and basic sequels. DC has a lot more history to compete with. They have to be different, but critics don't like different. It's a hard balance.

I'm curious to see how Homecoming does, because this is the first time that Marvel will have the problem that DC has. People will be comparing actors, costumes and directors like Marvel has never seen before. I'm sure it will do well, but it isn't as simple as Iron Man or Captain America.

The Star Wars movies are a whole other story. The franchise thrived when it was three movies. Nostalgia helped a lot. The second trilogy is mostly forgotten. The Force Awakens did well, but really wasn't good. I'm curious to see how much the franchise can be diluted before fans lose interest. Just as Marvel hasn't had to face DC problems until now, Star Wars hasn't had to deal with Star Trek issues until now.

879

(1,098 replies, posted in Sliders Bboard)

Agreed. And the animated movie (which may be Miles Morales, not Peter Parker) will have to be worthy of a theatrical release. Most of these animated movies are straight to DVD, so it is odd to release this in theaters. It seems like they're upset about Disney getting Spider-Man, or they're trying to hold onto the rights... I don't know.

Just for some perspective, Sony just announced a Venom movie that I believe is scheduled for October 2018. They haven't written it yet, so it is probably pretty early on. There is a chance that some of these DC ideas are further ahead in the process.

881

(1,098 replies, posted in Sliders Bboard)

Again, I think that people are blowing this up into more than it is. The studio is looking at options and seeing if there is anything that they can shift around and put out sooner. Their schedule is always shifting, usually for good reasons, so I don't think we should panic yet. If they decide to force an FX-heavy film out too quickly, they will regret it. They can't afford to get GL Corps wrong after the last movie flopped.

A movie without any huge visuals could be put together pretty quickly, and DC has many characters who could be used for a relatively low budget, visually simple movie. Their visual style for the franchise even supports something less grand. So that's an option. Even Nightwing could be more grounded and require less post-production work.

But odds are, they won't force anything that they're not certain of. Most of the options listed would require too much pre-production and post-production work. Anything Green Lantern, Flash or Justice League Dark will take too much work. Suicide Squad 2 is an option, depending on how much of a concept they already have. Same for Sirens, I suppose. They would only have nine months to do this... It isn't impossible, but I'm not going to invest too much in this right now.

I agree about Legends.

https://static1.squarespace.com/static/50eca855e4b0939ae8bb12d9/t/53b9db52e4b01e06b37da483/1404689237150/?format=750w

Sigh. Yeah.

Legends of Tomorrow ruins everything! Are we supposed to believe that in the Arrow universe, all of those historical events are now different? Or are the Legends responsible for creating the multiverse?

I think the Eobard thing has been really confused.

Barry goes back in time and stops his mother from being killed
Eobard is kept in a cage during Flashpoint
Barry releases Eobard
Eobard kills Barry's mother (both Flashpoint Barry and Flashpoint Eobard vanish for some reason)

Everything is presented as going mostly back to normal...

Yeah, I don't get it. They even failed to bring it back to what we saw in the season 1 finale, where Barry warned himself away from saving his mother. It's a mess, but I guess we're just supposed to go with it.

I don't get why people think season 2 of Daredevil was such a big fall from season 1. It had some solid new characters and the arc was pretty smooth, compared to JJ or LC.

I guess it's also possible that season 1 earned the show a little more wiggle room from me. smile

He does seem to manipulate people, but then again, that was his pitch for being on the team when he got there. He knows how to push people toward their potential. But there could definitely be a downside. I guess we'll find out. Wells characters usually only last a season as a regular on this show.

I'm trying to figure out which is more annoying:

A. People talking about the Earth-One Harrison Wells as though he were a bad guy, when he died fifteen or twenty years ago and never hurt anyone. Wells was never a villain.

or

B. People talking about Eobard Thawn on LoT as though he still remembers working with Caitlin and Cisco, when he was actually pulled from the night that Barry's mother died and should retain none of those other memories.

Bonus option:

C. Diggle's Spartan helmet, meant to conceal his identity, having lights on the inside which highlight his identity!

Legion is good. I like that one a lot, but I have talked to a ton of people who hate it. I guess I like shows where people put thought and effort into stories and characters, as well as the visual style, while some people prefer to watch superheroes have big battles every week. I don't know. I just know that I find the exploration of character on Legion to be really compelling, while others say that the show is boring and nothing happens.

When it comes to Iron Fist, I'm just going to have to wait and see. Critics are morons who don't know anything, so we can't go by them. Complaining that a white comic book character being white on screen is "whitewashing" is stupid (and possibly a little racist). A lot of those same people would be complaining if they had cast an Asian actor, because they complain about the martial arts stereotype all the time. The star of the show says that it's because people don't like Trump and don't want to cheer for a billionaire superhero. I think that's a bit of a stretch, but who knows?

All I know for sure is that plenty of critics praised Luke Cage, which has to be one of the low points of the franchise, so we can't count their opinions for much.

Plus, they bashed some really good DC films. smile

This is where the documentary "Chaos on the Bridge" comes in handy. It documents everything that went into Roddenberry's mindset when it came to TNG and the Trek universe. Basically, he was buying into his own PR, but there were also other elements that came into play, which caused the whole thing to turn into a mess. It's funny when you have studio people saying that they have no idea what Encounter at Farpoint is about, even to this day. It's total nonsense!

https://youtu.be/XbyB2fy6Uzc

Nah, I still like Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man was fun, and I like Daredevil. I'll be giving Iron Fist a fair shot too. I'm willing to admit when they get something right.

Civil War had potential. All they needed was a plot and a good editor.

I just imagine that this Thor movie will be painful. Thor's movies have been among the most boring of the franchise, and they're now adding the Hulk, who has been another of the weaker parts. Ruffalo just brings nothing to the screen. This has all the makings of a snooze-fest.

And now the Spider-Man movie is looking to be in trouble!!!!!
https://www.comicbookmovie.com/spider-m … ay-a149622

Reshoots! The entire franchise is pretty much over! Reshoots!

I'm joking, of course. But it is funny how the article goes out of its way to explain how normal reshoots are.

Spider-Man still looks horrible in the MCU. Just my opinion. Definitely the weakest movie costume yet for the character.

(686 replies, posted in Sliders Bboard)

I did?! Now I have to try to remember to read a synopsis of that story. smile

I agree about Voyager and Enterprise. Roddenberry's vision didn't work. He started buying into his own hype by the time TNG came around, and his whole concept didn't work. The show didn't get better until he was gone, and to be honest, their attempt to stick to his vision kept TNG from being a really great show. It's a classic because it's fun, but it's not actually good most of the time. Berman and Bragga didn't understand why TNG worked, or why it didn't. They were a machine, creating product (much like Disney is these days).

DS9 made the best decision when they decided to pivot in the opposite direction and do everything that Roddenberry would have hated. It legitimized the Star Trek universe in a lot of ways.

I was just reading a book that told the behind the scenes stories of three Trek projects, from Voyager, DS9 and Insurrection. The book presented a look at scenes from each, from the writing stage, all the way through post-production.

The Voyager section stressed me out. They were building sets before they had a script. They were basing their whole season finale (Hope and Fear) on some vague idea of wanting to have a new ship, and all of their conversations were so shallow. All of their character drama was so false. They came at it all from the wrong perspective and with the wrong priorities, and it clearly shows on screen.

The DS9 scene was from "Tears of the Prophets". The scene they chose was Sisko, alone in a room with Jadzia's casket (it actually starts with her death, I think, but was mostly the Sisko scene). The whole writing process seems different for DS9. It's about the characters and how the story moves their story along. The development of the sequence, through filming and scoring it just felt so much smoother and natural.

But it would be easy to bring Trip back. You just have to alter the official record for some reason. He is recruited into Section 31, or some futuristic version of Witness Protection.

These days, his death could be entirely made up by people doctoring history for whatever reason. Rewriting history happens often enough.

See, because Enterprise ended with the reveal that what we were seeing was just Riker in the holodeck, I've always wondered how much of it was real and how much was just a writer making a holodeck story.

And how much of the show took place on the holodeck, since Riker was playing the role of a Chef that we heard references too, but never saw on the show?

Yeah, I think they had the same problem with James Masters. He was 35 or so when cast for season 2 of Buffy, right? Then you add years of staying very thin for the role, plus smoking... By the end, he was definitely aging. This is why vampires are better in books and movies than in TV shows. I guess we are supposed to play along and pretend that they look the same as when we first saw them.

By the way, was there ever a time when Buffy hooking up with either of these dudes was anything but gross?

The Sara thing is really misguided. I get that they want to take the classic womanizer guy character and flip it, but it doesn't really fit her character (who went from a serious relationship with Nyssa to a serious relationship with Oliver). Also, they just push it too much. Dean Winchester is a womanizer, and he may even be a man-slut (undoing some well earned character development from a few years back) but they don't play that note all the time, in every episode.

As Sliders fans, we wouldn't be able to criticize their T-Rex even if it did look horrible. smile

Firestorm has been poorly used this year. He really never uses his powers, which seemed to be expanding last season. I don't even get why Stein or Jax are on the team at this point. Or why Ray didn't just fly out to pick up the ship part.

The more sinister flame on Firestorm was a fun idea, but it did look weird.

The crash was also pretty weak.

I assume that Gypsy was just speaking their language.

One of the problems that I had with Supergirl before I gave it up was the alien situation. The idea of Supergirl was that she was an alien and had these great abilities, and it was her duty to do something with them. She and Superman were unique. So, okay, Martian Manhunter exists, but he too is using his powers to help people. Then Mon-El shows up and he's just slacking around, and Supergirl gives him crap about not using his abilities to help people.

This is fine, assuming that these are all of the alien in town. The crashed prison is another story, since those are bad guys. But then we see this alien bar, and it becomes clear that Earth has hundreds or thousands (millions?) or aliens living on it. Many of them have abilities. Most of them are doing nothing to help people, yet Kara doesn't give them crap about it as they're serving her cocktails at the bar.

Just like when Angel introduced a demon bar an had green, horned demons singing karaoke in a crowded room, with absolutely no human being shocked or put off by this, the reality of that world destabilized. Why was Kara such a big deal growing up? Why did she have to hide her identity? What makes her special? (actually, nothing, since she was just copied and pasted from a Clark Kent script). They were trying to play both sides, having Mon-El locked up and everyone wondering what this strange alien was all about, while having thousands of alien roaming around that nobody cared about.

They should have limited the number of aliens on the show. And they really shouldn't use aliens on Arrow, The Flash, LoT or Black Lightning.

A similar problem is with superheroes on Earth One. Legends of Tomorrow presents a story where superheroes have been around decades, but that doesn't really seem to fit the narrative of Arrow and The Flash.
