I think there's a decent chance this still gets re-added.

If they did re-add, I'd really like a better quality than what's on there, and the two episodes that are missing added. I find it much easier to watch on netflix than using the dvds, since I like to just marathon it on in the background on continuous play.

Do you recall Noori Ali(?), the ten year old Yemeni girl who got herself divorced? I met her at the Glamour awards last year. There was a CNN story last few days about how unhappy she is, still living at home, not attending school and quite angry that her life is not better. Is there any way we can help her? Could we get her to the US for counselling and education?

Here's her requesting a human rights report on women in Afghanistan. And saying things like please and thank you to a subordinate (this isn't common of all high ranking folks in my experience). https://wikileaks.org/clinton-emails/emailid/703

Most of all—and you hear this all the time from people who’ve worked for her—Hillary Clinton is uncommonly warm and thoughtful. She surprises with birthday cakes. She calls when a grandparent passes away. She once rearranged her entire campaign schedule so a staffer could attend her daughter’s preschool graduation. Her husband charms by talking to you; Hillary does it by listening to you—not in a head-nodding, politician way; in a real person way.

This same story has repeated itself throughout Clinton’s career: those who initially view her as distrustful and divisive from afar find her genuine and cooperative in person. It was the case with voters in New York, Republicans in the Senate, Obama people in the White House, and heads of state all over the world. There’s a reason being America’s chief diplomat was the specific job Obama asked Hillary to do—she has the perfect personality for it.

Yea, finding the time is the most difficult part with these 45-minute episodes. They can be so detailed that they work best on binges, but then it can be exhausting trying to binge.

The Black Mirror is best for one-offs though, since its pure anthology.

I've done transfers, it still takes time.  Here's straight from the horse's mouth if you like:

By all means, feel free to post about it wherever you'd like.  It took me about three hours to find the VHS cassette, dub it to DVD in real time, burn a copy of that DVD for you, create a label for the disk and an insert for the case, and get it all wrapped up and shipped off to you.  After PayPal fees and postage, I'll net probably about six bucks.  If anyone else would like a copy, it'll take me less than half an hour to burn another copy and get it ready for shipping.  If I can make a few extra bucks off of it, that would be great.

Always nice to see good people who will do things out of sheer goodwill.

However in an old online chat he said he definitely knew which arturo slid - he wouldnt say - and that there are clues in subsequent episodes if you look closely.

And with the Rewatch podcast humming along, there was a lot less pressure to continue. I knew you would all have something to listen to in our absence. Throw in the fact that Dan got a new job working nights, so things were looking dim for Sliderscast.

But after a little break from podcasting, I started getting the itch again. So I started up a toy news podcast with another friend of Dan and me. And I upgraded my recording software. And I think I got a little better at podcasting, and definitely got better at editing. And after a while I talked to Dan about starting to record again. So we've been working on scheduling...and last night we recorded Double Cross! It should go up before the weekend is through, if not sooner. It's one of my favorite episodes, and was so much fun recording. We have a new guest on who specially requested to cover this episode with us, and he's a huge Sliders fan too. So all in all, we probably can't manage a weekly release schedule, but maybe monthly or semi-weekly. It's always been my goal to finish the whole series, but I'm only doing that with Dan as my co-host, so if it takes a while, so be it.

If Jerry needed the money, he could get booked easily to smaller conventions around the country, no problem.  Trust me.  Casper Van Dien does a million of them, and he is basically only known for one cheesy sci-fi film that bombed at the box office.

Well smaller ones sure.  The thing is there are different ways Conventions pay special guests.  Either a fee (and travel of course) or perhaps some small travel costs and the invitation to sell their autographs and meet and greet.   If the convention is going to pay a fee of any significant they have to believe it will help drive people to the convention. That's fine for small conventions who don't really have headliners but it starts not to make sense for bigger ones if the person isn't going to really move the needle enough.  John Rhys Davies is more attractive to a convention than Jerry is in that respect.

Jerry was at WonderCon last year - but I'm pretty sure the project he was working on paid for him to be there. It was in LA too, so not much of a big deal traveling or scheduling wise.

I've asked promoters before, they haven't been interested.

I think although there's overlap, the convention crowd is a different type of audience than who the core slider fans are, and certainly different than the typical sliders audience.

The Sci-Fi Channel market research supports this.

http://www.earthprime.com/wp-content/up … liders.pdf

Target Audience

Primary target is sci-fi susceptibles who are Sliders fans. Having held a steady 5.5 rating on FOX,
if we can tap into even a fraction of these viewers and alert them to the fact that SFC will be
running all-new exclusive eps of the show, our ratings will be proportionally excellent.
According to our research department, loyal Sliders fans are primarily urban Males & Females
(50/50) 18-49, who are likely to be highly educated homeowners with families, and probably
have slightly higher-than-average income. Many of them are professionals, or in managerial
positions. They enjoy classic rock radio, sports, travel, and apparently read Cosmo more
than any other magazine. They tend to be "techy", owning and enjoying video games,
computers, expensive audio-video equipment, etc., yet they don't tend to read magazines
devoted to these pursuits.

They are a mainstream television audience who appreciate quality science fiction but would not
classify themselves as "sci-ti fans". These are people who will be interested in thought-provoking
television drama. They are not into sci-ti that's too "out there".
More interested in becoming
involved in stories revolving around people, where the action emerges naturally out of the
relationships between the characters, not to fulfill a special effects quota. These people are
probably not terribly impressed by gratuitous SFX at the expense of good storytelling.
People who enjoy working as part of a team. The ensemble cast is a tightly-knit unit, almost a
family, trying to survive among an infinity of parallel earths.
They are not teenagers.

Season Three is the worst of Sliders

Back in 1999 I actually thought that Season 4 was where the show "Jumped" but after rewatching the DVD's I actually found an appreciation for Season 4. It was at its best with just the three sliders. the first few Colin episodes were not that bad but by the end of the season it fell flat (with The Chasm and Roads Taken being the nadirs of the season)

That being said, I agree that Season 3 IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST. This was when the show  jumped the shark  right after "The Guardian" aired.  Sure there are some roses in this bed of thornes , Dead Man Sliding, Seasons Greedings but for the most part this season came down to a lame attempt to turn a cute quirky Sci fi series into The X Files (FOX's proudest ship in the FOX fleet)

Totally agree.

In Germany, a distributor is releasing a Standard Definition of Sliders on Blu-Ray - so the complete series is packaged on just four discs.

The audio has an English option and it ships to the U.S.  It's also about the same price as the Mill Creek Entertainment DVD release.

It comes out in September, about a month before Mill Creek's release does.

he’s still probably best known for playing Rembrandt Brown on the cult TV classic, “Sliders.”

“I had the best time doing it. There was not one day I didn’t enjoy working on that show,” Derricks said. “I know it started to fall on its wayside—new producers came in and new writers came in—but I loved doing it and it’s why I stayed till the very end. I loved the idea of multiple worlds and parallel Earths.”

Even though the show ended 16 years ago, it’s a part that people recognize him for just about every day thanks to constant reruns and a European fan base that is second to none.
