What about a Fanmade Comic instead?

Sonic the Comic (The UK version not the Archie Comic) has been continued Online in a Unofficially Official Capacity for years.....

There is a User on Spacebattles dot com with the Deadpool username and.... You could almost believe it is the Character breaking the Fourth Wall as the "Voice" and Tone etc is spot on and what posts are made make you go Whut!

He even has Yellow Writing as a Nod to the Marvel Yellow Boxes.

I'll have to ask for what they think about the new film.

It should be funny smile

I DO like that reasoning and perspective.

I kind of like the Tapes unexplained Nature and outstanding Mystery it's just that I would keep the Mystery a Mystery.

Never explain the Reunion/Reboot of the Awesome Foursome and just leave it to Fan Speculation wherein your Reboot/Multiversal Retcon fits.... But so do other theories.

I DO ignore post Season 3 and even half of that I live in denial of so I get where you are coming from.

New Viewers NEED everything fresh and new and us Old Fans need references, gags, parody and returning Characters that are also New Characters to those New Viewers while allowing a New Fan who seeks out any Original Sliders eps to get in on said Jokes and Tips of the Hat.

Adressing all the inconsistencies is not the goal as you say so a balance is needed to avoid excluding any Fans with more familiarity to the parts we dislike while ensuring it does not become Series Six continued.

I like the unexplained reunion. smile

Gives me a Warm Glow inside.

By having 40's Quinn in our world with our Tech Level and a Mystery to solve not only instantly makes Sliders Relatable again but also grabs attention pretty quick.

I have always liked this aspect of the premise.

It is the rewriting of reality/multiverse I have issues with as I pointed out at an earlier point.

Any Change Quinn makes to the Multiverse would essentially create a Split leading to Two Multiverses.

One with the Rewriting Mguffin and One without as per established Canon.

In effect we just end up with a magnified Reality Divergence event.... Except it is now a Mulriversal Divergence Event by Title and Scope.

You see I think there could be room for both a Revival ala ireactions and a Reboot.

Sliders in and of itself allows multiple Continuities.

For what it is worth ireactions I DO enjoy your ideas and contributions and appreciate the thought and graft you bring to bear for the Sliders Multiverse and it's Fans.

I really hope you have not become too disheartened or distressed.

On the subject of Revivals though I would like to share with you my fellow Sliders Fans a seperate Fan Work Continuation of another Franchise.

Sonic the Comic. The UK Version which was published by Fleetway/Egmont aka STC.

It is still being continued to this day as "Unofficially Official" and praised by Sega under the moniker STC-O or Sonic the Comic Online.

It is a radically different product to the American Sonic Comic by Archie Comics.

Check out the Sonic the Comic (STC) and Sonic the Comic Online Continuation (STC-O) Forums here: http://sonicthecomic.proboards.com/
and also Archives and new issues here: http://www.stconline.co.uk/

I look to STC-O and I think about what we could do with Sliders. smile

So many possibilities!

As a Young Boy I played Sonic on my Sega and loved the Sci Fi of a Human Scientist on another Planet or Parallel Universe filled with Sapient Non Humans and Androids, Bio Energy Fuelled Cyborg-esque Badniks which used the Matrix Bio Battery Idea in a far more interesting way along with the Laputa like Floating Island and Knuckles the Echidna's Mysteries.

Sonic the Comic started a little Shaky and was always aimed at kids initially but it soon found it's feet and did not talk down to Children and introduced them/us to themes and ideas usually only Sci Fi aimed at adults would approach but in a accessable way. It ended up maintaining an audience way beyond it's aimed 8-12 age demographic and kept fans/market share all the way up to late teens, uni students and even parents who got into it with their kids.

The official comic eventually declined due to ill thought out ideas by management to start printing lots of repeated storylines and began to shed readers but even then many kept buying in the hope for new content and ongoing Development all the way up til the Publishers killed it off.

That fanbase did not go away though and STC-O is due to that.
Even now new Fans stumble across Scans online or fan art on deviant art etc and come to love the divergent continuity.

Here are a couple of you tube links.

This one is a nice treat though. It is a fan animation of a comic strip from STC.
Really nicely done.

On that note it must be pointed out that if you are not dead set on returning to your point of Origin then building new Sliding Apparatus is an option for any with the Technical Knowledge and available resources to make them.

As much as Quinn and Arturo are an amazing mix of Theoreticcal Physicist and Electrical/Mechanical Engineers able to Maintain, Repair and Upgrade there Equipment we must remember that People Use and Repair Technology in our Society often with little or no Knowledge of the underlying physics so with sufficient familiarity with the Tech it can propogate without the underlying Principles..... Albeit in a stunted manner.

I like pilight's idea for a gender-swapped Wade and Quinn and my advice was to make it more entry-level, pointing out that it's very good until attempting to tie it into the classic series. I thought it brilliant to set the series in the original continuity and side-step the age of the actors by featuring a female-Quinn who's the same age as the 1995-Quinn. Very clever.

I like pilight's idea of having the gender-swapped sliders meet the original sliders later on in the series instead of the first episode. That's probably a good way to handle it. This would be tender and touching for the old fans, but putting if farther into the run of the series would prevent it from being confusing for the new ones.

I thought when asking for ideas that this was an open form not an attack spot for any ideas that you did not see worthy to follow up a show from 20 years ago. Being that you have no more clout with NBC/Universal/Comcast then I. I have no idea why you have decided to go on the attack. Oh well, nothing more to say

My criticisms are that few if any of the ideas here are entry-level introductions to SLIDERS. That anyone not familiar with SLIDERS would be confused by these stories. That is a perfectly reasonable and legitimate issue to raise.

As for you, you pissed me off.

I presented a simple, effective, straightforward story for a SLIDERS reboot.

ireactions wrote:

The (updated for 2015) Temporal Flux vision of a reboot:

  • Wade Welles is a tech journalist who failed to build a life beyond reviewing smartphones and laptops.

  • Rembrandt Brown is a coffee bar owner who failed to hang onto his 15 minutes of fame.

  • Professor Arturo is a genius who failed to find a career outside of writing high school study guides for science students.

  • Quinn Mallory is a tax accountant who lost his passion for science after failing to create anti-gravity -- but twenty years after giving up, he realizes that he discovered something else instead.

  • SLIDERS: A journey through what could be and might have been. Sometimes, getting lost is the best way to be found.

I provided Matt's concept for how to make this rebooted SLIDERS a subtle sequel to the original series:

ireactions wrote:
  • Quinn in 2015 will find video diaries from the Quinn of the 1995 series.

  • The video journals will explain the sliding concept to the 2015 Quinn.

  • The journals will later have the 1995 Quinn reveal that due to an interdimensional war, he has found a way to alter history to remove sliding from reality.

  • This brief journal will reveal to the fans that the older doubles are the original sliders.

  • They are living in an altered timeline where sliding's discovery is delayed to the present.

  • New viewers will not realize this, nor do they need to.

And you replied:

sliders5125 wrote:

Ireactions, the above works, but would work better if Rembrandt is the key to hiding everything and he purposely has found away to stay busy in Quinn s life so that every time Quinn is talking about antigravity machine etc. Rembrandt eyes lite up in terror and he suggests other scientific endeavors ....Rembrandt and the proffessor could be the key to distracting Quinn over the years up to the point where he does start sliding again ....instead of a 2001 Quinn hiding sliding it was a Rembrandt that somehow met up with the proffessor in 2001 after the kromagg cure of the finale and they had developed this magic machine to go back in time and stop Quinn from presuming sliding past the initial test the hid the tapes and all evidence leading to sliding from Quinn to keep our Earth from going through all of the awful events sliding had brought. Rembrandt would be a tortured soul and the guy with the experience knowing that he eliminated both the good and the bad that sliding had accomplished. ..telling himself more bad than good happened over the 5 year journey...and now that the team is forced to slide again hoping they don't make the same mistakes trying to find home...or a safe supstitite for home.

You arrogantly declared that a simple, effective, straightforward story should become a tangled and convoluted "The Seer Part 2" / "Post Traumatic Slide Syndrome Part 2" -- and then you said that your lazy sequel was somehow "better" than what I presented.

You have never shared a single idea that wasn't Part 2 of a previous story. I am appalled that someone like you -- someone with no original ideas at all -- would tell me that the way to improve my material, TF's material and Matt's material is to turn their welcoming, approachable, entry-level story into an unfathomable mess of continuity references.

I find it outrageous, arrogant, offensive and insulting for you to declare that you can improve plots by removing any new ideas and replacing them with your overstretched threads from other people's stories.

I have also been getting a crazy amount of spam from your E-mail address. I'd reproduce them here, but the messages were sent to my junk mail and deleted

By All means embrace SPAM fury ireactions.

Your tone regarding his ideas though is highly aggressive. I believe unecessarily.

I do not agree with even acknowledging the Post Series Two Cromaggs so I agree his Idea Pitch is not to my taste.

Still.... You do not need to take his differing view as a personal attack.

I respect you a lot based on what I know of you from past posts ireactions so please do not take my input here negatively when I note this issue above.

There is the Espionage angle of Masks and Immersion too.

She was abrasive and Hostile in Exodus because either her Mask was not on eg not in Mission Mode/Mindset while on Home Soil/Back on Base..... OR..... That Maggie was a Mask too! She was on a Mission perhaps where that Personality and Character Traits were her Required Role.
What if she was assigned to get close to Rickman.... Or Dr  Jensen?!

Sliding Tech even if only Theoretical/Prototype is valuable Tech full stop but during a potential Amageddon? Vital National Interest are the words that come to mind.

For ANY Nation!

Which Country did Maggie really serve?

As to her Role itself.... Maybe Psychological Profilers determined that Persona to have the most effect on Jensen or Rickman?

Jensen is Paralysed and so might crave a Strong Woman... Perhaps unhealthily so in a way that veers away from Admiring Strength and towards Masochism.

As to Rickman... Maybe he only respects Women in the Military who try to emulate Machismo etc?

Ha Ha Ha Ha......... NO.

The only thing from that list I like is a Return of Logan St Clair. Even then a Final Showdown would be a waste of a good/interesting Character. I would prefer her as a recurring Character myself. Maybe not every Ep but Regular Appearances anyway.

The Gang Reunited of course I want to happen but I would be happy for an off screen reunion that leaves everything a mystery.

More Conrad Bennish.... Yes please.

The FBI.... If they were real Feds then I doubt it would stay in their purview long. Probably end up kicked to NSA or an Off the Books Organisation.
That plotline can be revisited any time or created fresh as and when wanted.

Quinn from a Reality where Gillian of the Spirits events went wrong.

I have to admit the constant defeatism of"only 20 old fans still watch Sliders!" is irritating and innacurate.

Yes there might only be 20 of us more die hard Fans on this Forum but there are many People who are more casual fans but still Fans none the less.

Sliders does not get regular reruns like Star Trek's many offerrings or Stargate etc so it's last impact for those who watched is back in the 90's or Sci Fi Channel Watchers from the Noughties.

Sure it is Net Viewable now but that is either a casual stumbling upon the show or a reccomendation from other sci fi fans.

It does not get advertised heavily and sadly the later Seasons outnumber the earlier quality ones which influences how a watcher describes the show and whether they like it or not.

Lots of people want More Sliders but they do not go into minutae like us.

I managed to catch a repeat last night on E4 that featured a Rock Star Double.... Sort of.

Not sure if that was episode 2 or 3 but it did seem fun despite my irritation at missing the prior episode/episodes.

Aw.... I am sad. sad

Timer App is not working properly. The Numbers and Control Buttons and Green Bar animations all overlap over each other and seem squish stacked?

Not sure if just my Samsung Galaxy Ace so will Bluetooth it to my new Alcatel later and see if it works better on that.

Ah thanks! smile

Downloading now. Just hope it is not too glitchy.

Tempted to get a Fallout Pip Boy U.I. App or Star Trek LCARS App too ^_^"

Yeah I really like the idea of an Atom Punk Timer.... And the Pip Boy can do a good job as such a Timer.

Heres hoping some other Aesthetics and Tech Levels can be explored for AU Timers eh? smile

Wase Welles as a Revolutionary Leader is an idea very ripe for expanding upon isn't it? wink

The Fallout Pip Boy 3000 Props that are being used in concert with Touch Screen Phones come to mind readily like on the Link below....

Have any Sliders Fans tried to make some kind of Timer Themed Frame/Phone Holder Prop to merge with a Touch Screen Phone that has/could have a Timer Style App like above?

If not.... Why Not! big_smile

The Fallout Pip Boy Props certainly show though that in Theory a Pip Boy Modded as a Timer could work. smile

Maybe....

Yeah I bet you thought this would be the Thread I mentioned a little while ago for Crossover or Alternate Universe Timers eh?

Not so much. Although..... It could have some Bearing/Relevance.

I'll start off with this Link as it saves me having to do all of the Contents from scratch. http://www.earth62.net/timer/timerpage.htm

So.... Those are the Canon Timers. Quinn's Basement Project, A Pharoah's Plaything/Tool, Govt Project and an Ambitious Corporate Scientists Test Model.

I'm very interested in whether or not a Phone App to give our Handsets the "Timer Treatment" might be available or something we can make ourselves though?

The Jenson Timer from Exodus onwards was famously a Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Controller too so I wonder what other Console Joypads or other Electronic Toys/Gadgets might make a good Timer with some effort?

The Sega Dreamcast Pad would probably be the easiest due to it's Modular Nature and Display Screen/VMU option but the N64 Joypad could be fun to modify with its three Handle Grips and Central Grip with Trigger Button.

Thoughts Guys and Girls?

Wasn't the Soviet US Divergence due to Economics rather than the Old Cliched "Red Dawn" Invasion of the Commies Trope?

Or am I misremembering?

I was talking with a Friend a while back and we were speculating that another possible route to a Soviet US could have been a Yellowstone Eruption at some point post the Wall Street Crash which the Soviets responded to with Aid, Disaster Relief etc and just never left after Stability was enforced due to being the Source of Stability and Reconstruction.

I figure such a World might be one in which the Japanese Empire take the Dutch East Indies due to America being too weakened by the Eruption and After Effects.

The Nazis probably still took France but never went East.
Maybe due to a Successful Soviet "Winter War" with Finland that made the Nazis too cautious to pull a Barberossa and choose to consolidate gains in France.

Either that or the Battle of Khalkin Gol between the USSR and Japan escalated leading to a Soviet Manchuria and or Korea which pushed the Empire of Japan into the Dutch East Indies after Embaressing Defeat of the Imperial Army on the Mainland.

Thoughts on this if you have any please Wade?

Ugh.... I missed it AGAIN!!! ^_^"

Logan/James "Wolverine" Howlett from the X Men as a Slider....

The whole Heat Signature/Thermal Print thing was rather weak science really.

There is some truth to People having distinctive Thermal Patterns but an Opposite Gendered Genetic Identical would not work.

Greater Body Fat Index, Hips being Configured differently, Breasts, Height, Weight, Water Retention etc.... Too many Differences to get a Match.

It should have been a Retinal Scan as they would not Differ between Gender or maybe a DNA Test.

If they had gone into uncharted Tech like Bio-Electric Field Comparisons or Alternate Tech related to Kirlian Photography that could have been interesting but obviously less grounded in Current Tech compared to that of the Episode or Retinal and DNA etc.

Real Life Thermal Scans do differentiate between Twins interestingly.
I think the real reason that Tech has not gone more Mainstream though is it's mutability.

A Fingerprint does not change barring external causation and neither do Retinal Prints but Thermal Signatures Change based on Food, Exertion, Illness etc.

Voice Print Analysis was popular for a While too but that had issues too with Mutability and Fraud via Recordings and Modulation so is less respected nowadays.

I'm currently playing catch up with Agents of SHIELD.

Skye is now Daisy. Cal is great. Daisy's Mom is now alive but really really dull. Ward has Agent 33 and a Pet Bakshi but Bakshi's Character is so disappointing as I really hoped he would be a good Villain in his own right. May is being Whiny. Hate Bobbi not because of betrayal stuff but because she is so generic. Hunter I'm warming up to slowly. Sad Wards Mentor Garret comeback was a fake out as he was fun. Fitz is kind of cool now not because of brain stuff but more because he is more daring and not a Lab Desk Jockey so much. Sad Simmons was not Hydra Conditioned that would have been good.

Episode I just watched was Cal and Daisy in Milwaukee with Hydra, Coulson/Ward pseudo Team Up and Deathlok captured with that Aussie Actor from the 2013 Tomorrow People by Bakshi.

And the end Scene with Coulson? That is SO definately Agent 33!

Wow that brings back memories.
Used to watch the Tribe back in the day.

Have to say though it kind of Jumped the Shark with the addition of the Technos.

A Tech Revivalist Faction was a good idea but they took it too far.
The Tech was far too advanced.
And if the Technos had that level of Tech then why did they need the scraps that the Mall Rats and the other Locals had?

Daft.

True but actually managing to do it well is difficult.

Take Dragons for instance. There was a Pseudo Nature/Historical Documentary about Dragons that introduced some plausible Science for what they can do like internal Hydrogen Sacs to add Buoyancy and Lighten the Dragon to allow such a Large Creature to Fly. The Hydrogen Bladders were also postulated to be a viable method of Fire Breath for Hunting and Mating Displays and Warming the Nest/Nursery of Eggs.

That is one way to adress Dragons in a Scientific way but what about the other types of Fictional Dragons that can shapeshift, perform spells etc? That is a lot harder to swallow in a show like Sliders.

Stumbled across this Thread and thought you Guys and Gals might be interested or want to weigh in.

Ok so this is not a Fan Vid with Acting by Fans and a Script and it's not a Fan Edited Trailer for a Movie or Reboot..... It is however a Really Heart Warming Tribute from the You Tube Account of Julieluthor in honour of the Original Four Sliders.

I really enjoyed it and it brought back good feelings.

Ok... Signal Worked this Time so the JJ Abrams Style Fan Vid.....

It is Exciting I'll give it that but it doesn't touch on the Sense of Curious Wonder that made Season 1 & 2 so Special which is a Shame.

The Skyline footage felt out of place to be honest but I did think the Jumper Footage blended well with the actual Sliders Clips. smile

I don't think I like the idea of Hayden as Quinn though as while he can do Broody he is not the most expressive Actor.... Whatever Faults Jerry O'Connel may have had he could do animated and enthused well, especially when he had John Rhyss Davies on hand as a Mentor and Colleague.

Overall not a bad little Fan Effort but still left me feeling it needed tweaks.

We could always make our own Lego Sliders?

Either by contacting the original idea person and asking to continue or by making a completely new one of our own creation.

It is a lot easier now too as prior most of such Fanvids involved actual Physical Plastic Figures and Stop Motion but now the Lego Computer Games could allow us to do such a Fan Film like a CG Cartoon.

Slide Override wrote:

Fan trailer of Sliders if JJ Abrams was involved...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ly2S_Ppnms

What if you found a portal into a paralel universe. What if you could slide into a thousand different worlds? And what if you couldn't find your way home? A film directed by J J Abrams, produced by christopher Noaln. Based on the 90's TV show of the same name. Hayden Christensen stars as Quinn Malory.. a genius who gets lost after creating a portal into parralel dimensions.

This is a fictional 'fan' trailer.... this is purely to show what 'could be' and to show that this film needs to be made... its a great original idea with so many great prospects... come on universal.... get your butts in gear. It is a purely non profit exercise and is in no way intended to be for financial gain.

Was about to watch this and what do you know.... Connection lost! sad

Happens a lot. Not so bad with short stuff but try getting fifteen or twenty minutes into a Vid of greater length and then get that message!

Anyway.... Noticed something on the comments panel which I thought bore mentioning for the board and ireactions in particular.

It has been said that a New Sliders Series would not be viable for an audience of around twenty Sliders fans which sounds reasonable as there are not howling hordes of us here on this BBS/Site.... BUT.... Just read those comments.

Many people love Sliders whether Old Fans or New passing Viewers!

They just are not as die hard as us is all. The fact is though we should not become disheartened or draw misconceptions just based on the membership of our Site Here.

For what it is worth though I do have the Sliders Anniversary and this Site and Earth Prime up on my Sig on Spacebattles.com so that whenever I post both Sliders and this Site etc get advertising and hopefully draw both Old and New Sliders Fans here. smile

I think promotion whether Minor and Subtle or Big and Overt is something which can only help the Sliders Fan Community and Commercial Franchise.

Here is the Fan Video Sequel to the Conrad Bennish Junior Fan Vid I posted near the top of the page.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFPlW0um … ata_player

It's on the same You Tube Account eg: Willisvision

I've downloaded the first Fan Film which was about 50 MB with a roughly 30 Minute runtime and I will watch it soon.

This sequel Film though is only a 14 Minute runtime but is nearly 90 MB in size which is too much for me to download so I will probably watch it on You Tube Direct after I watch the first Fan Film.

I'll post a review when I'm done.

I look forward to your thoughts and those of ourr fellow Sliders Fans too on both the Conrad Bennish Stuff and the other Vids too! smile

Ah! It finally got Subtitled! That's good news!
Just have to hope that now I can understand it I will enjoy it! smile

I'll check out the JJ Abrams one too!

Been thinking about Timers again.

Do you think Timer Ideas and Props, Art etc are worthy of a Thread just for them?

Another idea I had was based on the John Ritter Movie "Stay Tuned".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Bs2icpi … ata_player

The Magic TV Remote has a Wrist Holster that functions like a pop out Hold Out Pistol Set Up like seen in Alien Resurrection.

That could be a cool Timer Accesory for Quinn to build or the Quartet to stumble across.

Plus Stay Tuned is still a fun film so a Comedy/Crack Sliders Fic could be made if you mixed Sliders and Stay Tuned. smile

A World where early Humans developed a Symbiotic Relationship with a Bioluminescent Bacteria that Lives in their Epidermis/Skin and meant early Human Communication was not just Vocal but also Visual with Colour Changes, Patterns etc from primitive/basics like Danger, Curiosity, Hunger all the way up to advanced flickering and pulsing sophisticated Codes akin to Morse etc, as well as allowing this version of Humanity to light their way to see in the Dark.

I was thinking of those Jellyfish with Photosynthetic Bacterial Symbiotes as well as Bioluminescent Algae, Jellyfish, Fish and Octopi etc as my inspiration for this.

First Vid is a Spin Off Fan Work that follows Conrad Bennish Junior as he rediscovers Sliding while following in Quinn's work.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-v60jFL … ata_player

I have not seen more than the Intro yet as my Data Allowance on Phone is low so will watch when I can downlooad it as 30 minutes is better in one smooth flow rather than You Tube's juddery streaming and Connection Lost messages and cut outs.

After much thought and talk on the thread about Lego Sliders I thought a new thread that can function as an index for such might be a good idea/useful.

Let's limit it to one Fan Vid/Film per post so that we can post a Link and write a Synopsis/Blurb.

Good Idea? Bad Idea? Let me know.

A question for you Wade if I may?

How many different types of Timer did you go through in your Multiversal Journeys?

Which was your Favourite and which did you dislike the most and why?

Could you describe them please too?

Many thanks.

I believe Earth Prime did a Fan Edit of Exodus to try and salvage something from the steaming excrete and did a fairly good job given what there was to work with.

Maybe other Sliders Episodes could receive a Similar treatment?

But maybe instead of Cutting, Cutting, Cutting.... We could add stuff.
Like that Soviet Skyline etc to not just pad out the Episodes but add to them in an enriching way?

We could even look to other Works/Starring Roles by Sliders Cast, Guest Stars etc and add a few more Doubles even if only passing by?
or if the footage is versatile/well suited enough it could be weaved into the plot of the Episode in question in some way?

Zoe Mclellan who played Logan St Clair for example also starred in the Dungeons and Dragons Movie as well as Dirty Sexy Money so the footage from these works could be trawled through either for Double Scenes or maybe even Logan St Clair original herself.... Maybe?

Just an example but you see what I mean anyway.

Maybe we could substitute bad SFX for more modern/believable SFX like the Mega Tsunami in Season 1 could have it's CGI swapped out from the Episode with something like Tsunami Scenes from The Day after Tomorrow or a similar Work?

Some Stuff can be Made original but as it is a non profit Fan Edit I don't see a problem in borrowing Scenes from other Media.

There was one part in the Premiere for Season One that was a little shocking related to that which was not in the Unaired Pilot.

Even now I am divided on it.

The Scientist who is played by the same Actor (Now well known in the UK for his role in Medical Drama/Soap "Holby City" as a Surgeon) in the Pilot and Episode One explains he used the experimental tech on a Tomorrow Person prior to the Talent Show Location use of it and KILLED HIM because it was not finished being tweaked. Quite casually and slightly embarassed said "There was not much left of the poor Chap".

On the one hand that addition added some genuine menace and dramatic tension but it was also pretty dark and unpleasant.
I sort of like it but also dislike it. Strange eh?

As to Photo Manips for Background Scenery/Skylines.... Check this out!

You could totally imagine this as a Picture in an office on Sliders Soviet America or as a background for a News Presenter on TV reporting from Commie New York while the Sliders are watching it in San Francisco in an Electronic Store Window or in a Bar inbetween Sports.

Stuff like this is very doable and builds a more believable and wider World beyond the Local Environs featured on Camera.

I really love World Building and really missed the actual AH background elements of Season 1 & 2 that were more prominent and thought provoking..... Even when they were a little flimsy and weak in S1 & 2 they were fun enough to forgive that where as in S3 that became a rare thing.

Well the great thing about Fanworks is that Money is not the driving force.

I am a massive Fan of Modded Games. They take a lot longer than Studio made Games but the better Mods rival and sometimes even surpass Studio Games.

These are either Solo Works or Collaborative efforts that show that so much can be done with just Time, Passion and Determination.

Some better examples I can list are:

Stargate: Universe which is a full conversion mod of Command & Conquer 3 that allows an RTS experience both on Planet and in Space set in the Stargate Universe. Play as Tauri, Asgard, Goa'uld and maybe even Replicators.

Fallout: Van Buren which is a Mod designed to give us the cancelled Isometric Fallout 3 intended to be released by Black Isle before they went bust and got bought up by Bethesda.

Twisted Insurrection which is a Stand Alone Mod based in an Alternate Tiberian Sun Era where the Brotherhood of Nod was victorious in the first Tiberium War in the First Command and Conquer game.

Mothership Zeta which is a Bethesda era Fallout Game Mod that has new Environments, new assets, new Characters, new Story Elements and recorded Audio Dialogue.

There was some stuff in the Unaired Pilot of "The Tomorrow People" that was cut in the Series Premiere which I think was a shame and is why I like the Pilot.

The Actor who played Kevin was better in the Pilot but I have no idea what reason there was for the recasting.

During the Bus Bullying Scene Kevin Teleports to the Sea and back in panic and throws a Live Octopus that clung to him on the Bully to escape.
This was funny even if the Octopus looked a little fake.
Te Series Premiere swapped that Prop for Seaweed which although looked a little better visually ended up losing the humour.

Another thing ommitted was a Scene with the Experimental Tech that explained it had been bought from the Former USSR's version of MK Ultra after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
It's a shame it was cut out as I liked that part.

I also thought Adam was more of an effective Mentor/Big Brother figure in the Pilot wheras in the Final Episode 1 version that was watered down somewhat.
Maybe to make him more relatable? Give his Character room for growth?
I guess I just liked him more as a Mentor Figure. smile

There are a few other differences but I liked these the most.

Obviously the Season Premiere added extra content and some improvements but.... Yeah.

I disagree. I think mixing old and new characters could be a good compromise.

Yeah it was bull..... *ahem* sorry, nearly fell into that profanity trap again.

The 90's ver dabbled in anti TP tech but it was experimental, unsafe and based on theories that could affect normals too.

The idea was to interfere with either Spatial Perception, Balance etc to disorientate and incapacitate/restrain.

Ok.... I'll start us off.

I mentioned this series on another thread.... You guessed it... It's "The Tomorrow People" 90's Ver again.

The Unaired Pilot is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7grSwhCh … ata_player

Pyrokinesis, Psychic Healing or Phasing are Elements which could be introduced and mesh well with as in Canon some Individuals having greater aptitude in one skill compared to others.

They all get the Ability Package but some are weaker and others stronger in their own area.

There is a sad lack of The Tomorrow People Fanfiction out there too.
I did read a good 11 Chapter Stargate/TP 90's ver Crossover fic over on Fanfiction.net but it is sadly unfinished.

You are so very right when mentioning Heart and Optimism, Pluckyness, Curiosity etc.

2013 was so unremittingly bleak while masquerading as Deep and Edgy... *sigh*

I absolutely hated Ultra's Anti Power Technology it was bullshit pardon my language.

A.I. I could just about stomach but only just.... as experimental tech.

Sure Indoctrinated/Blackmailed/Traitorous/Greed driven TP's working for the Man/Alphabet Soup group/Black Op is possible but all that Tech? NO!

They might want to research, contain and control TP's but from a narrative point it is boring and takes away the mystery of these powers and people if they already know it all and can use said countermeasures.

The so called threat TP's pose is non existant if you mass produce those Power Jammers and distribute them everywhere.

Wow! You have managed to pinpoint most of my own gripes/criticisms of the 2013 bland offering! smile

I implore you not to let the awful USA reboot sour you on the 90's version.
I feel similar about Series 3 of Sliders which wounded me and have so far not been masochistic as to inflict S4 & S5 on myself.

I hold S1 &S2 of Sliders too dear to my Heart to allow Peckinpahs Faux Pas that followed to diminish them and I hope you can compartmentalise the different iterations of The Tomorrow People while using 2013's ver as a map of what to avoid.

I for one would be very excited to see/read any Fan Material you have regarding either a 90's continuation or Reboot done right!

I think the 90's will always be my favourite ver even if I see the 70's offerings but I can see some things of value that could be looted/borrowed from it even if only as broadening material and inspiration.

Visually is not too hard bar the Vortex.

Photo Manip of Backdrop Scenery like Skyline and View, Costume variety etc.

The slightly difficult part is Props you hold and interact with. Some blue/green screen work with proxy props that can be tweaked in post production is ok but actual physical props are better. Costs vary though too much of either can be risky.

Fan Works benefit from less tightly restricted Time Constraints versus Studio Productions which have set deadlines.

A Fan allots time as and when free and can slowly gather/make props, costumes and produce CGI/SFX.
