If he actually does that stuff, a lot of it could be promising. School choice, immigration laws being enforced, repealing Obamacare, term limits (!!!)...

The problem is, Republicans have been running on these promises for decades, but never deliver. They swear up and down during campaigns that they will reform this and that, and they sound like champions marching into battle. Then they get elected and turn to mush.

There is nothing stopping them this time, but I still doubt that they would have the balls to do this stuff. They will try to compromise and make deals, and we will end up right back where we started. Meanwhile, Democrats get power and go to town with it at every opportunity. This is why we're constantly taking one step forward and two steps back.

Thinking about it tonight, I think Trump's success has been in identifying the weakness of the Republican party. The Republicans simply aren't good at communicating. McCain and Romney failed to speak up at all, whereas Trump will say anything that comes to mind and has no filter. The others failed to use social media to fan the fire, whereas Trump will post anything and has no filter.

It isn't that he is the smartest, or the best candidate. It's that he is actually recognizing the people who would be voting for him. The Republicans usually play games, try not to offend their opponents, and expect voters to follow them no matter what. People are sick of it.

Obama succeeded for kinda the same reason. He wasn't a good candidate or qualified, but he knew how to play the press and social media. He has slogans that meant nothing, but they looked cool on posters. He has more of a filter than Trump, but in terms of how they got here, they're not entirely different.

Well... I think that there's plenty about Obama that could have pretty huge. The guy is not as clean as people make him out to be. The thing is, the media loves him and they love Michelle, so they would never push any story that might harm him. If the media won't push it, there is no scandal.

But yeah, I think Hillary's evil. And ignoring her long history of shady crap doesn't make it go away. Donald Trump may well get the world blown up. I don't like him. I think he probably does have some sort of mental disorder tied to his ego. I am not defending that in any way shape or form. I'm just saying that given the options, I would choose the ego-maniac over the brain damaged psychopath.

Kasich was never going to win. He never stood a chance in the primaries. It's not because he wasn't mean enough, it's because people generally didn't support his positions and he doesn't come across as a strong leader. Republicans have had to vote for McCain and Romney in the last two elections. Men who refused to dig in. At least one of them didn't even want to win, in my opinion. People who did not represent conservatives the way that conservatives want to be represented. That's why Trump go the nomination... not because everyone loves him, but because people are tired of candidates who won't state the obvious. There were far better candidates, most of whom could have beaten Hillary easily. The problem is that there were too many of them, and too many of them refused to drop out when it was obvious that they wouldn't win. Kasich included. If the stage hadn't had a dozen candidates standing on it, things would have turned out very differently.

RussianCabbie_Lotteryfan, a lot of the stuff you listed can't really be used to turn her into a human being. The interesting example was the email about the kid, but given her history, I would have to make sure that it wasn't part of some longer email chain about ways to improve her public image or whatever. I'm still not convinced that she really has a capacity to care about other people.

The interesting thing in this discussion is the element of manners. "Please" and "Thank you", and all of that sort of pleasant stuff is where Hillary may have something that Trump doesn't. He has no manners or filter at all, while I think that Hillary is more calculated and filtered. Evil, but with the ability to look otherwise. smile

Still, if she's going to be President (gag), I hope that I'm wrong and there is a shred of humanity somewhere deep down inside of her. A piece which regrets having to get a child molester off on a technicality, despite her laughing at the story years later. A piece of her that feels sick when she thinks about what her husband has done to women, and what she has done to keep those women quiet. A piece of her who gives a thought to Benghazi every once in a while, when she's all alone, and has to fight back the urge to tear up.

Hell, I hope that she is capable of holding her grandchild and feeling a basic, primal connection.

None of us win if I'm right and Hillary Clinton is incapable of feeling any of those things. So I hope that I am wrong, and I hope that once she achieves her life's mission of getting into that office, that humanity can see the light of day. If not, no good will come of this. People will suffer and die. The best we can hope for is that whatever illness she has progresses to the point where she becomes little more than a medicated puppet, surrounded by more competent people who are capable of handling things.

Then again, look at who she surrounds herself with... There may not be much hope there either.

Sigh.

Donald Trump is a strange person. He is a legitimate d-bag, with a foul mouth and he is quite possibly insane. However, I've heard people who have worked for him say nice things about him and his family. I've heard stories of his doing good over the years. That is why I wouldn't call him a psychopath.

With Hillary, I don't think I've ever heard a good thing about her. Since the 90's, her security people seem to universally hate working around her because she treats them like crap. Ive never heard of her being kind or even very polite. I've never seen a sign that she cares about any other human being on Earth. Please do correct me if I'm wrong about that.

1,158

(3,520 replies, posted in Sliders Bboard)

But how many actual human bodies does he have in his wake? How many times has he personally put national security at risk and then proven that he simply doesn't care about it? Donald Trump is disgusting and arrogant, and a jerk (I think the word "bully" should be reserved for schoolyards). You can say a lot of bad things about him and I probably wouldn't disagree. But Hillary Clinton has never exhibited an ounce of basic humanity. No empathy or sympathy, no moral compass, basic sense of right and wrong. She quite literally appears to be a psychopath, who is now displaying signs of some sort of neurological issues.

I've heard people who know Donald Trump say good things about him. I cannot recall anyone ever having one positive thing to say about Hillary as a person. And obviously I can't base my vote on which person I like as a human being, since they both fail, but Hillary has never been anything but dangerously corrupt. Is there anything to suggest that she would care if a nuke went off in one of the middle states?

And all of that is just based on her political career. Add into that her victimizing women who were already victims of her rapist husband.

It seems like most people work off of what my brother calls "place mat history"... y'know, the history that you'd get from a kid's place mat at a restaurant like Denny's or whatever. It's a vague, shallow, not entirely accurate representation of the truth. So when you bring up the more complicated history, people act like you're a Klan member or something. This severely limits the storytelling in shows like this, because they're telling a fraction of a story that's already been cut to pieces.

Amaya isn't American. She could have had a totally different view of those events (not pro-slavery, but more detached). Hell, her people could have been partly responsible! That would have been awkward. But yeah, they didn't want to explore stories or characters. They wanted to stand on the stage and show how powerful they were for somewhat acknowledging history in a vague sort of way, and then they wanted people to tear up, pat them on the head, and call the episode "important", which is what usually happens in Hollywood.

It's a shame. The story could have been really different and interesting.

Yeah, Hillary will probably win. It boggles my mind though. So much information is out there showing that she is not only incapable of doing the job, but that she is a truly, truly horrible human being. Yet, when you reference the decades of information available, people act like you're talking about UFO conspiracies. They even have a line along the lines of "Forty years of investigations have found NOTHING. She is the most vetted and cleanest candidate in history" which makes me want to puke.

I don't mind people disagreeing with me, but there's a difference between disagreement and delusion. Hillary Clinton is a psychopath.

Donald Trump isn't much better, but he's a little bit better. It's a low bar.

This week was pretty lame. Especially Jefferson. First, comparing the experience to black people today to the experience of black people in 1863 was just laughable. I know that a lot of people do that in real life (a lot of people compare everyone they don't like to Nazis too. All sense of scale is gone) but Jax just looked more stupid than he should be. And he looked stupid again at the end, pausing for a moment to really own the moment of liberation. Dude was oppressed for five minutes and he is telling the actual slaves to hold on a sec. There could have been some real depth and meaning to this story, but it just seemed like a hollow attempt at something vaguely deep.

I do like Nate though. He is well acted and has a fun personality. He would probably be a good match for Sara, but they seem to have forgotten that she is bi.

For your communications issue, please allow me to introduce you to your new vest friend, the intercut.
http://www.screenwriting.info/15.php

For your action scene, a lesson that I learned while writing action sequences in my books is that sometimes, less is more. Describing a fight sequence gets long, repetitive and boring. Cutting a lot of description in them saves the reader the time that it would take to get bored and skim past the action. Hit the highlights, but if you're going blow by blow, I would recommend taking the red pen to a lot of it.

I don't actually have a lot of my Supergirl pilot written (maybe ten pages, because I'm typing with my thumbs and only when bored) but the issue that I'm having is in not wanting an action sequence just for the sake of having one. I'm not sure that this series would necessarily have a monster of the week. I guess it doesn't matter, since I won't have to write a whole series. smile

In my head, I am now casting a very prominent role for my Supergirl redo. Young woman, close to Kara's age. Strong ties to both Kara and Alex. If Alex represents the side of Kara that is constantly pushing herself to be better and more kick-ass heroic, this other character would represent the side of her that appreciates the smaller things in life. The quiet moments. The sunsets. She's someone who wouldn't feel trapped in her hometown, living a quiet, "normal" life. She could spend her life as a librarian or a homemaker, and she would be just as happy as Alex is kicking alien ass (though Alex is being reworked in my head, so she probably isn't going to be the super soldier that she is on the show... I haven't finalized her role yet).

Why am I mentioning this here? I need to think up an actress that I can picture in my head for this role. I may never write this script fully or post it anywhere, but the show continues in my head. So, who would fit in that world with Alex and Kara?

The problem with Supergirl is that the problems add up. Once the majority of the series is on big problem, every little thing added to the problem becomes that much bigger. If Supergirl were a good show, Superman's phrasing wouldn't be as big of a problem (though I would undoubtedly still roll my eyes as yet another set of writers failing to understand the character). But the show is a mess. The plot is a mess. The characters are a mess. The visuals are a mess. And so now, I have nothing to hold onto except the complaints. Like, why does Kara suddenly feel a need to dress like the comic book version of Jimmy Olsen? Do female reporters not wear skirts or cardigans?

But it doesn't matter. There's a better version of the show in my head. I will enjoy that one. smile

Mary should open a bar! Like the old Harvelle roadhouse. Middle of nowhere, hanging with hunters without having to be one. I think it would fit her.

She has fit into the show really well. It is a shame that she isn't a regular. I hope we see more of her, without her dying. It's fine to just have her out there, like Jody Mills. She adds some really cool flavors to this mix. Not only are Sam and Dean dealing with Men of Letters vs. hunters, but they're dealing with old school hunting vs. modern hunting.

If I had to guess right now, I would say that the UK Men of Letters aren't as successful as they believe themselves to be. Maybe the organization itself has been taken over. Maybe by the UK Steins smile

Rowena... Y'know, she hasn't been as annoying lately. Maybe because she has actually served a purpose to the plot, or maybe because she isn't pure evil anymore. I certainly don't want her around all the time, but every once in a long while might not be too bad.

Did I really just say that?

Ooh, or Mary could partner up with Castiel. Heaven's Outcasts, coming 2018 to the CW!

I watch Supergirl on the CW Roku channel (it isn't primetime quality. I watch Gotham when Supergirl is actually airing on tv), so I didn't see the preview for next week until a while later.

I think I'm just going to have to call it. I'm done. I can't sit through another monster/alien/mutant fight club. I have hated this trope since the 90's. It has never been done well, and it is a sure sign that the writers have no ideas for what to do with their show, so they're going to whip out an old generic tv show script, insert their character names, and snooze through production.

Yup, I'm done. Maybe I can use this time to try out some other shows that I've been thinking of testing. Has anyone seen The Magicians? Is that any good? Or I could start watching This Is Us. People say nice things about that one.

The problem is going to be CBS. They don't do good TV.

I read that too. And yeah, my expectations are lowered. I think that CBS is probably trying to stick their nose in things, which they always do. It is an old fashioned mentality, especially for streamed shows.

Fuller has said that he has always wanted to run a Star Trek show, so I have a hard time believing that he is simply putting other projects ahead of this one.

I guess we'll see what happens.

I'll skip discussing their childish characters and paint by numbers political message, but I will say that the introduction of the alien bar brings us into Angel territory. That show made the same mistake, which not only destroyed the uniqueness of their main character, but sacrificed the "reality" of the story. It sounds like a fun way to bring in more aliens on paper, but in execution, it is just a bunch of extras wearing bad makeup, acting stupid.

That sounds like a horrible situation to be in. I have to say, I've been really happy with my camera. When I was watching my nephews a couple of years ago, they were goofing around and making clothes out of paper and tape. I got a shot of one nephew that looks like a studio portrait, and the only light was a window. I've gotten a few of those moments captured beautifully. My sister in law actually asked me why I always get such great pictures and she couldn't. I think part of it was just my eye for spotting the moments, but I also rely on the natural lighting. Phone flash kills pictures. I think you'll be happy with the S5 if I can get good pictures from an S4.

I got an Echo Dot. Same day delivery too. Now I have Amazon's Alexa in two rooms, controlling all of my smart switches and stuff. I could only justify getting it because I had points and gift cards to use, but it's pretty cool. I can be super lazy now.

Good luck!

I had a similar problem when I was working on a book that I haven't edited or released yet (not part of my F/H series). It was set in New York, but in the past. So I always had to look up maps and whatever videos/pictures I could find, just so I could add the little details that make the world come to life. A lot of the time, those details were just for my sake and didn't end up in the book. Just remember not to include anything that doesn't come up naturally. Too much useless information can come off as awkward.

Actually, it did happen with Freedom/Hate too, come to think of it. I worked out this whole map of how the world ended up the way it did. Every time I tried adding too many details in the story, early readers would respond negatively, because it took them out of the story itself. So I had to go back and remove a lot of the historical details and stop trying to show off how much work I'd put into building my world.

Yeah, I'm not going to continue on this. It's getting us nowhere. You have your opinion about O'Keefe, and that's fine. You can simply not like his methods or believe that his open political leanings invalidate his work. That's fine. But some of what you've read about him or his work does not accurately represent what actually happened or what is in the videos. So you should shy away from using those sources for your debate points.

I did skim through the link you sent, and again, I do think that if Vera handled the situation with the police, it should be noted on the video's website. The video is not fraudulent as originally released, but it should be amended with an update with relevant information. But as with any news report, you always have to do extra homework to find all of the things that you aren't being told. This is why I hate journalists. O'Keefe is no worse than anyone else, he's just not entirely better.

1,181

(3,520 replies, posted in Sliders Bboard)

James O'Keefe was a Breitbart employee and the Vera 'scandal' was published on Breitbart in 2009. And yes, they were fraudulent -- O'Keefe intercut footage of himself shot after his conversation with Vera in which O'Keefe dressed up in an absurd outfit and asked more explicitly criminal questions in order to make Vera's responses look more disturbing, and then the intercut footage was presented as the actual conversation on the website.

Wait... That didn't happen at all. The intro to the videos had the wacky pimp outfit and theme song. The videos themselves had normal clothes, and no intercut footage of questions being asked (O'Keefe was wearing the camera, it seems)

The videos show Vera either helping this couple, or pretending to help them. Whichever story you believe to be true, they accurately portray what happened there that day. Now, if a police report was filed or an investigation was started, that should be added to the story, to show that Vera isn't as bad as he looks. But as I said, I can't find evidence of a police report or an investigation. Therefore, there is nothing to back up the claim of his going to the police (it should be noted that he mentions asking his cop relative about the matter in the video, so simply discussing it with his cop cousin doesn't necessarily mean that he was looking to make a bust). Anyway, I don't agree that the video can be called "faked" either way.

But yeah, this conversation isn't getting us very far. It is fine for you to look at the videos and read the reports and feel however you feel about them. I would just appreciate it if you didn't imply that what you're saying is absolute, indisputable fact and anyone who disagrees is a wacko. I'm not basing my opinions on how I feel, I'm basing them on the evidence in front of me.

1,182

(3,520 replies, posted in Sliders Bboard)

Not true. I don't have any loyalty to O'Keefe or anything he has done. We are discussing facts here. Breitbart released the Sherrod video. It was not O'Keefe. You are misrepresenting this situation in order to prove a point, and then accusing me of blindly following O'Keefe because he says what I want to hear. I don't know if you are simply remembering this wrong or you're looking at a website for details, but this is false.

So we are saying that O'Keefe took video of a man who was going along with the human trafficking plan, showed the video of exactly what that man was doing, and he is still a fraud because the man who was trying to convince him that he was helping with the human trafficking plan succeeded in making him believe that he was helping with the human trafficking plan? What evidence is there to suggest that O'Keefe had any knowledge of any police report or investigation prior to the video's release? For that matter, is there any record of a police report?

I looked up the NPR report on the NPR situation:
http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/ … eral-funds

That report links to the full two-hour recording (which I can't open... Possibly because I'm on a phone). It also has a statement from the man involved, apologizing for what he said in that recording.

As far as I can tell, the Project Veritas headline on those recordings is about media bias, not collusion with terrorists.

http://projectveritas.com/npr-videos/

At different points over the years, I have enjoyed the works of many people. Political journalists, writers, directors, actors, whatever. I have always enjoyed them right up the the point where they do something to rub me the wrong way, and then I let it be known that I'm no longer a fan. Usually loudly and repeatedly. I do not follow anyone blindly. We can discuss these things as much as you'd like. Maybe you'll even change my opinion. But please don't accuse me of being a mindless follower. I am not one. Ever.

EDIT --

Just because I noticed your other post after I clicked "submit"...

The thing is, I looked at your examples from the mindset of "maybe there is something that I didn't know" and thought that I'd change my mind about Project Veritas once I looked into it. However, I looked into it and looked at the facts involved. Not my opinion or my feelings, but facts.

FACT: Shirley Sherrod was not O'Keefe or Project Veritas.

FACT: The lawsuit settled was about recording without consent. There is no claim that O'Keefe misrepresented what was on the video or edited it to make it appear that it was anything other than what it was.

FACT: The NPR recordings did in fact show bias against the Tea Party, which the man accused even apologized for. And the full recording was released. If their edited report was misleading, they appear to have given everyone the chance to decide for themselves.

I don't see how any of this makes me comparable to an anti-vaxxer who is ignoring facts and data. If there is some evidence that I don't have, I'd love to see it. Until then, I simply am not the one who seems to be basing my opinions on feelings or bias.

ireactions wrote:

As for O'Keefe, his 'work' on Shirley Sharrod and Juan Carlos Vera where he edited their footage to make them seem racist and to be a human trafficker -- his fraud is a matter of public record. In the case of Sharrod, she was fired from her job at the US Department of Agriculture. Then the videos were reviewed in full and her 'racism' was shown to be her describing attitudes she didn't agree with. She received a full apology from the US Government and the offer of a new position. With Vera, police officers had records showing that he immediately called the authorities to report potential human trafficking. He sued O'Keefe and O'Keefe paid out $100,000. You can Google it yourself and it's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to O'Keefe being completely dishonest and untrustworthy. I would sooner trust pilight to give me constructive criticism.

The Shirley Sherrod video was Breitbart.com, not an O'Keefe investigation. Unless I'm missing something, which is entirely possible since I'm sleep deprived. If I am missing something, please let me know.

Juan Carlos Vera did call (his cousin) a police detective to discuss the incident. I don't know if a police report was actually filed. If there was, I can't find it. Regardless, the settlement reached was not about the editing of the video or the smearing of any character, it was a case of recording without consent.  If action was taken to investigate this matter, there was no way of knowing until after the video was uploaded. There was no indication that I'm aware of to suggest that Vera attempted to break off the conversation or get rid of O'Keefe as soon as he came in. In fact, he claims to have played along with the whole routine... which begs the question of how O'Keefe was deceiving anyone when the man that people claim we were deceived about was going along with the whole thing.

Currently, there is no proof that his latest work is fraudulent, but considering he's never produced anything that wasn't, he has accumulated sufficient reason to dismiss his material given his past history.

Again, even his video with Juan Carlos Vera was not fraudulent. At best, it was a wacky Three's Company scenario, wherein both parties were trying to catch the other party and it was all a wacky misunderstanding. Everyone probably would have laughed it off... except, O'Keefe did record the man without consent. That does not make the video a fake, or give O'Keefe a history of faking videos. It gives him a history if violating the California law about recording people without consent. For what it's worth, he could do that where I life, no problem. There would have been no lawsuit or settlement if it had been done here.

I don't really have the time to gather and present further research to you to bolster what is a known, proven, and very validated set of criticisms against O'Keefe and his 'journalistic' practices; it's all out there on the internet anyway, Informant. If you don't agree with the truckload of courtcases and wrongful firings where O'Keefe's lies were later exposed, you and I will simply have to do what we usually do -- shake hands, agree to disagree and move on to this week's ARROW.

This season really is better than those seasons which shall not be spoken of. I mean, they're not absolutely perfect, but the episodes are much better. I still don't like the John Jr. thing though.

I think that if someone who was well known enough decided to drop the Republican or Democrat title and run with a different party, they could give that party a chance of being a player in a presidential election. The ting is, it would have to be someone who could possibly win the nomination with the repubs or dems, so it doesn't look like an act of desperation.

There are few people who could actually pull that off, but I'm hopeful that it can happen someday. Y'know, maybe we should do away with the party titles all together and let people fight to get on the ballot on their own merits, without an R or D after their name.

Okay, back to voter fraud...

It happens. We've seen it happen in elections for senators, etc. It's pretty much known that there is corruption of the system, but there isn't a lot that can be done about fraudulent votes once they're cast. I think that it's more likely that you could go after an organization that brings in fraudulent voters, and that should happen.

All it would take to do major damage to an election is to add a few thousand votes to areas that are very close. Imagine having six hundred extra votes in Florida during the 2000 election. We'd have an entirely different history right now. And even if the attempts to influence the election with fraudulent votes doesn't work, those people who commit that crime or organize that crime should be held accountable. That is not a small crime.

I've yet to see evidence that O'Keefe fakes his videos. Clearly, you can say that he is biased in which stories he pursues, but if the implication is that he is editing these videos to be something that they aren't, or to make people say things that they aren't, there is no evidence to support that. And again I have to say that it's incredibly unusual for people to complain about video reports being edited, since every news report that we see on TV is highly edited.  I've seen major news outlets editing around comments that politicians have made, or framing a shot to make a tiny protest look like a huge mob, and that's still seen as "respectable" journalism.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of the media lying to us. If there is evidence of O'Keefe fabricating stories, I want to see it. Until that happens, I don't see how his investigations can be written off. If these recent videos are lies, why are people being fired or stepping down from their positions?

You can find countless websites that say that O'Keefe is a con man or whatever (all with articles highlighting Hillary's crimes, I'm sure), but where is the evidence? What are they basing it on? Just the fact that his reports are edited in the same fashion as pretty much every single news reports on television or on the internet? Is there some sort of proof that his reporting is more fraudulent than any of the "legitimate" news sources? Or are they just bashing the man who is going after liberal organizations and causes? Do they hold more liberal outlets to similar standards? Did they demand to get the full recording of the Trump video/audio? Do they hold debate moderators accountable when they provide answers for the candidates who can't seem to find answers for themselves?

I'm all for asking questions. I want as much information as possible. But unless those websites are just as interested in exposing the dishonesty of the mainstream media, I don't see how they can hold a special grudge against Project Veritas, which is at least up-front with their political leanings.

Yeah, O'Keefe has that reputation for releasing heavily edited videos... But most of those reports that I've seen were blatant lies, where the journalist reporting simply failed to click on the link to the full videos.

And sorry, but if his videos were just scammed, several of the people involved with the latest batch wouldn't have been fired or stepped down. Where have his videos been proven to be lies?

Every nightly news report is heavily edited. Every article is heavily edited. The famous Donald Trump bus conversation was heavily edited, and nobody minds any of this. It's only when the Democrats look bad that we suddenly raise the bar.

The idea of people bringing in hundreds or thousands of votes illegally does bother me. In 2000, the results came down to an incredibly narrow margin, so we can't pretend that thousands of votes won't mean anything.

Having one illegal vote bothers me, no matter what impact it has. This is a basic right that we have as American citizens. Having one legitimate vote cancelled out by one illegal vote pisses me off. Having one citizen's vote erased by the will of someone who isn't a citizen pisses me off. People give their lives to secure these rights and violating that system disgusts me on a very basic level. We need more outrage over these things, because we have let it slide for too long. We always wave our hands and say that if it were really a big deal, someone would do something about it. But who is going to do anything about it when the people in charge are the ones rigging the system? Nothing ever comes of voter fraud, and that is wrong. Voter fraud should be met with severe punishment. (And when I say that, think less "Orange is the New Black" and more "Arrow, season one")

The problem is, we have people on video talking about rigging the election. It isn't a conspiracy theory, it is actually happening. What do we do with that information?

We also have those same people talking about hiring hundreds of people, some mentally ill, to spark violence at Trump rallies. What happens with that information? Investigations? I doubt it.

The S5 doesn't have Samsung Pay capability. It started with the S6... the Note 5 does have it though.

Rumor has it that Samsung is going to do away with the Note series and focus entirely on the S series. I think that would be a mistake. I know people who like the different lines for different reasons. The brother that I mentioned who just got a Note 4 uses the pen a lot, sketching up plans and diagrams for projects that he's working on. As an artist, it's been a great tool for him. Meanwhile, my sister in law who used to have a Note 2 (which she gave to my brother, who then took it swimming) found the Note too big for her. I believe she has an S5 now, and that seem to work.

I was planning to make the jump to the Note series if I ever did upgrade (again, the prices make it really, really hard to do. They either need to bring back the renewal deals or lower the price of phones). But I have no plan to upgrade anytime soon, so we'll see how it goes. I'm kinda hoping for the foldable phone that they've been talking about... normal size phone that unfolds into a larger tablet. Cooooool

While we're at it, i want the TV from this video:

On my computer, I use Final Draft. They don't appear to have an Android app though, so I'm trying one called DubScript on my phone. It is actually pretty easy to use. It does most of the formatting itself.

Of course, I don't know quite how to get some things done, so I may have to polish in Final Draft later.

In Man of Steel, Clark's line about the symbol meaning hope was just him repeating what Jor-El had told him earlier. I saw its use as part of his act (he was not supposed to be Clark Kent in that room, he is supposed to be an alien to the people watching), and also part of his excitement at having that piece of history for himself. It didn't make him more alien to me. If anything, it made him more human. Almost childlike in a weird way. He pauses and kinda smiles at the line before he says it. It's interesting.

There were definitely better ways of doing the Metallic makeup. It's just another example of the people making the show but not seeming to care about it. So much of it is just so unrelatable, it makes it hard to connect with any of it.

So, I downloaded a screenplay writing app for my phone. Since I sometimes find myself going an hour or two at a time, unable to get real work done and running out of things to look up online, I figured that I would do some fun hobby writing that I don't have to think too much about.

I've been playing with the Supergirl character. Typing with thumbs is slow, so I haven't written much, but I have almost the whole teaser for my version of a pilot. The Krypton stuff. It's fun to write, because my brain is like interactive TV. I can see the show playing in my head and manipulate it. It's a fun way to shut out all of the other character voices that normally scream for attention.

I don't think I will post it on my website though.

They made the classic mistake of writing Superman, which is making him more alien than human. Referring to English as "your language" implies that it isn't also his first language... I tend to hate the Superman lore which has his entire culture magically zapped into his brain. They missed an opportunity to have him learn about his people from Kara.

The Metallio chest was wrinkling up at one point, which is bad. Why did they use that shot?

The rest of the episode was pretty much par for the course. The characters are just templates, barely developed. There was a spark of life when Alex got mad and went on about the way Clark abandoned Kara... But then it was dropped and everyone was back to baby talk.

Oh well.

Agreed about Assange being a danger.

But Trump isn't wrong. We have election officials admitting as much on video. We have Clinton campaign workers discussing how they are fine with discarding republican voter registrations, or not providing republicans with mail-in ballot options. It's no secret. In past elections, we've had well over 100% of the voters in some towns, all voting for one party.

The election is rigged. The system is corrupted. The question is, how rigged is it?

I actually meant to write "Note 7"... which would have been funnier. Oh well, that joke failed.

I'm a fan of Samsung. This whole thing will pass. People are acting like batteries have never exploded before. It's happened to a lot of different phones, just not on as large a scale. I'm sure they'll be fine with the next generation. Cars are recalled for killing people and those companies never seem to go under.

I really don't need many new features, but if I ever felt a need to update, I'd want Samsung Pay. Which is better than most of the similar features in other phones. But that only started in the S6, and the S6 doesn't have the SD card slot. So the S7 would be the better choice.

I may want a Note though. Bigger, plus a stylus. That's cool. I really liked the Note 7, aside from the whole "blowing up" thing. But if that is a problem with the batteries and not the phones themselves, it's a real shame that they couldn't be easily swapped out with third party batteries.

I recently replaced my S4's battery for the first time in the three years that I've had it. I took a good look at the old one and saw that it was beginning to bulge. That can't be good.

New battery lasts longer, depending on how much I am using my phone on any given day. This makes me extra upset that it would be difficult to replace the battery in the new phones. It simply isn't realistic to expect me to shell out $600+ every three years for a new phone. It was different when AT&T would give me a great deal with contract renewal. Those days are gone. Sigh.

Maybe I can find an S7 on eBay for super cheap smile

I propose that we do away with the Supreme Court and leave all of those major decisions up to a panel of YouTube vloggers!

I agree that cyber security should be a priority. When it comes to Hillary, this is a horrible topic. She either has to admit that she used her own server because she was trying to avoid investigators (which we know from the 2008 video anyway), or she has to admit that she has no idea how this internet thingy works and what email-mabobs are. For a President in the 21st century to have no grasp of such things is a pretty big deal.

All true. That's the weird thing about Wikileaks. They're stealing information that they have no right to, and they are wrong. But then again, we can't unknow what they've released, and some of that exposes unethical or criminal behavior.

That makes neither side of that issue right. It's like a drunk driver hitting a car that has a dead body in the trunk.

Frankly, all candidates should have to at least prove eligibility when running. We complain about tax records and medical records, but eligibility is basic.

And again, it had far more to do with his parents and his upbringing than his skin color. There was absolutely no reason for him not to put that question to rest within a day, much less years.

Okay, back up.

Obama wasn't called out because he was black. Asking for a birth certificate isn't unusual when someone is running for President. Hell, John McCain and Ted Cruz both had their eligibility called into question. Race wasn't a factor. The fact that Obama's background included a foreign father and dual citizenship muddied the water. An old bio of his stated that Obama was born in Kenya  (which Obama failed to refute) and raised in Indonesia. And despite having an American mother, there were issues raised with his eligibility due to how long his mother had lived in America after the age of 16 (since his mother was only 18 when he was born). People wanted to check to see if he was actually eligible to run, which is something that he does have to be able to prove. Whether they were stretching or not, they did have a right to ask for proof of his eligibility.

The thing that caused the birther movement to become a giant mess was that Obama did not provide that evidence. He just ignored it, which is not supposed to be an option if he wanted to get on the ballots.

He did not release a birth certificate until 2011. Long after his first campaign, but before his reelection. Why? Because it was a tactic. It was a way for him to point his finger and accuse people of being wacky conspiracy theorists whenever they questioned him. If they questioned his ties to radicals, it's just those wacky birthers. If they question whether or not he was actually experienced enough to be President, it's just those wacky birthers.

Obama apparently had nothing to hide, so why was it even an issue? Why did he have to be evasive for years? Why did he spend over a million dollars in legal fees, fighting requests to see a document that he could have handed over in five minutes?

Every time Obama is questioned, people say it's because he's black. And that's bull. Obama is questioned because he is either incredibly stupid, or incredibly dirty. He uses race as a mean of rallying people. He feeds into the growing racial divide that is inching us closer to a race war than I ever thought possible in my lifetime. Race is just another item in his political toolbox. Obama is questioned no more than any other President, and he provides far less answers than most.

We could put them on no-fly lists and take away their right to run for office!
