Seems very plausible.

Well we all know Dark Methods are used by Alphabet Soups regardless but Gitmo rankles many because they stopped hiding what they were doing partially but also because if it is no longer a hidden thing then why not do it with full honesty on US Soil instead of more Double Dealing, Rules Lawyering, Bullshit from the Politicians and Intel Agencies.

Either keep it hidden or go fully transparent and own it.

Whether it is right or wrong ironically is not really the driving force behind the outrage and discomfort even if many try to claim it is.

Sadly most people just want clarity and to get on with things so Gitmo is kind of a festering sore they dont want to think about but are unable to fully reconcile.

There are some French Sliders Fan Vids but without English Translation Sadly.

There were also some Russian Forays into recreating the Vortex in modern SFX which looked promising but I am not sure if a Fan Film got made in the end or not.

It would be cool if the Makers of In the Pirkinning made a Sliders Vid but I doubt it is likely as their passion is more Star Trek and Babylon 5 focused.

I may add more at some point and do intend to elaborate on the ideas listed above as I have come up with some stuff, but I don't have time right now.

On another matter..... I was getting nostalgic for my 90's Sci Fi Kids shows like Tommorrow People 90's Ver, Girl from Tomorrow, Ocean Odyysey (Ocean Girl) etc and was surprised by how much of that stuff was Australian.

Then I saw talk of "My Secret Identity" which you have referenced before ireactions and am curious if it was any good?

I saw the 90's American shows Eerie Indiana and Secret World of Alex Mack but yeah the Show with Jerry O'Connell as far as I know did not air in the UK on Terrestrial UK Channels.

Cyrokin's Cybermen idea has had me thinking I must admit.

The idea I have in mind though could be just as viable for a Non Cross Fic or even a Reboot Script/Concept.

The idea would be that we see some flashbacks or quick cut exposition in flash forward that shows a streak of Dangerous worlds Slid to consecutively.

The Core Four Sliders of Quinn, Wade, Arturo and Remmy are intact but not without consequences.

Cybernetics.

That's right. Injuries, Damage severe enough that requires Cybernetic Prosthetics and other Augmentations/Upgrades or simply a Slide to a World where the ONLY Medical Care is Cybernetic in nature due to it's own History, Culture and Technological Specialisations.

It could be just one of the Four or maybe all Four of the Sliders.

Bonus points though if Quinn integrates the Timer into his Cybernetics tbough.

For a Fic obviously you could do this to the original Four should you wish but a Script would probably require a bluff that makes us think it is OUR Four Sliders until the Cyber Sliders encounter their Doubles in the middle or end of the Script as a reveal that shows the Original Sliders reactions to the Cyber Sliders.

A Fic also allows the option of exploring the Cyber Sliders more long term as a series of chapters with a Story Arc rather than as a one of Script/Novella.

Things to explore.

Limb Replacement/Prosthetics.

Issues of Equivelant Strength and Speed or Enhanced Capabilities which are beyond Human Norms.

Sensory feedback like Pain, Pleasure and how much force to exert on self and others as well as heat sense to know not just temperature but also avoid burns and issues of cooling like perspiration.

Skeletal Reinforcement. Both in regards to attaching and mounting Cybernetic Limbs safely without the weight being too much for the body but also regarding enhanced durability and toughness.

External Armour Plate ala Robocop or Sub Dermal Armour Mesh and or Plating.

Brain/Neural Replacement, Augmentation etc from Neural interface to additional memory, processing speed enhancements etc.

Risks and downsides like Surgical Risks, Maintenence issues Via Nanite Repair system internally on the higher tech end and Pit Stop/M.O.T. like Surgical Check Us via Human Theatre or Auto Doc set up like in Logans Run or Fallout.

I have to Wonder about something Wade.
When you were on the World with Telepaths they had no institutional understanding of a non Teep. This always confused me when the Miranda rights and Charges were sent to you Telepathicly and were not Received/Perceived?
Surely their Society had some statistical outliers who were either very weak Telepathicly or Null Telepathicly.
It may not be common but it seems strange to be an OCP (Out of Context Problem) for the Cops.
Either that or they were prejudiced in some way.
Would they treat Nulls and Weak Teeps as Disabled? Sub Human? To be Pitied and cared for or derided and shunned?
Did you ever ask the prospective Oracle who.... Had a sort of obsession with you any of these questions?

You're right. Infinite Possibilities in Infinite Combinations.

Although I have to admit I steer clear of Sliders mixed with Settings that have Magic, Supernatural etc. I prefer more Scientific principles at work.
So Zombies are ok for me if a Virus or Biological/Technological cause eg: Resident Evil, Walking Dead.

Magical settings I do enjoy but mixing that with a Science based show like Sliders is a challenge which I have not seen effectively created sadly.

I like the idea of a Multiversal Bonsai Concave Cutter like Trance uses in.Andromeda to trim away a multiple branching of possible worlds.

But like Quinn says.... It wouldnt be permanent. The multiverse would continue branching even if not on the removed branches.

New ones will always form.

Also, even if Quinn achieved his Trim Job.... The Multiversal Nature of Branching would mean a World Divergence point where he did not make the Cut would come to be.

Effectively this would mean Quinn has created a Cluster of Worlds more distant and hard to travel to from the Cluster where his clipping did not occur.

Isolation. Not perfect isolation but good for his purposes.

I kind of see these two branches of possibilities like Tree Limbs growing away from each other.

I always thought that the Reason the Sliders ended up on so many similar worlds that were predominantly Historical divergences was due to this issue I describe eg: Closer Worlds are easier to slide to than worlds where Pangea never broke into the continents we know today. The further back the divergence the harder it is to reach. You may still get there because of the random part of sliding but statistically the odds of getting there at all versus a closer more familiar/recent divergent Earth are low.... Very low.

I have to side with ireactions.

I want that sense of wonder and spirit of adventure that was so integral to Season 1&2.

New Earths, New Geographies, New Paradigms, New Cultures etc etc.

The big Questions..... What If. How. Why.

I too would like to see different variations of Timers. Not just Quinn's but those made by other Sliders with different Tech Levels and Design Priorities/Aesthetic Values.

Give me a Diesel Punk or Atom Punk Timer chock full of Vacuum Tubes made by a Soviet Research Bureau or Scientist.

A Sleek Star Trek type Timer by a Priveledged Utopian Visionary.

A Clock Punk or Steam Punk Timer that is mostly Backpack and Wand or a Troey on Wheels a H.G. Wells figure has to wear or drag behind him.

A Organic Symbiotic Timer could be very interesting. Bio Punk! Oh Yes!

Being Gay on a World without Men would be almost ubiquitous.... Even for traditionally Hetero Women. No Men afterall.
I imagine she would have difficulty understanding and relating to the Male Gender also.
They might seem very Alien.
Would this Daughter be exclusively Gay Genetically Predisposed/Hormonally Influenced or more Situtional and Cultural? Would she wrestle with her Sexuallity when Confronted by the Male Gender? Would she feel confusion? Doubt? Curiosity? Fear?

Interesting ideas and possibilities. These are some of the things I love about Sliding. Not just the Fashion or Geography or Technolgical Level of Development but the Cultural, Societal, Psychological impacts too.

I like it for what it's worth. Retcons usually irk me put it works. It acknowledges te past but reduces it's shadow over possible future options.
Have to admit though I'm sad to know you will no longer continue with Sliders Written Work/Scripts/Fics etc as I've always felt you had a real Talent for capturing the Awesome Foursomes "Voices".

I think maybe a Fallout/Sliders Crossover Fic could be interesting. Fun fact is that the Tardis appearing and dematerialising is in the Fallout Games as an Easter Egg too!

I've been nostalgic lately for an old PS2 Game called "Shadow of Memories" (It was called "Shadow of Destiny" in the USA though.)

It features Alternate Timelines, Time Travel, Alchemy etc so obviously as a Sliders Fan I loved it!

It's Interesting Characters and involving Story played a big draw too though

A Device called a "Digipad" is the Transportation Device in the Game and it is of similar Shape and Size to a Timer so the idea of a Crossover has been percolating in my mind since last night.

P.S. It is Definately a Game I would recommend even if it is rather like a Visual Novel/Interactive Film in some ways. It is available on PS2, X Box, PC and apparantly a special edition came out on PSP a couple of years ago with added content.

That kid on the World with Arturo Holmes investigates could work too.

The thing is though.... Violence is not Quinn's go to option unless pushed into it.
You point this out yourself in your newer posts quite succinctly when discussing his Mind and Problem solving being a core quality and more impressive asset than brawling alone.
I believe Quinn would aim to immobilise and capture Rickman if given a choice.
Rickmans medical condition is likely to kill him without additional victims anyway so Death is likely, but an execution? No.

This Slide of Paradise was a bad episode but the real shame is that if you break it up into parts there are interesting premises for Alternate Earths that could have been good.... Just not in this Episode.

Western US Coast a series of Archipeligo's and Island Chains.
That could be interesting. From our worlds Galapagos Islands we know such places can be great sources of Species Diversifivation and Specialisation.
Also Travel if you want to get around is less running around per usual Sliders schtick but instead swimming, boats and aircraft.

Ethics
1: Slavery, Caste Systems, Dehumanisation.
2: Transgenic Research with No Limits.
3: Engineered Sapient Life Creation and it's impacts.

These could have been far better explored.

On the Timer, Home World Machine and Window/Portals.....

I have some theories.

Earth 00: The original Quartets Home.
Tech is Early 90's.
Power Generation and Storage is not very developed.
Computation Power was improving but nothing like what we have now.

I think the Original Machine not only brute forced a connection to tbe place between Realities allowing Portal Creation, Mathematical models to calculate patterns in flux and also Power Aqcuisition/Leeching/Recharging.

The Timer has a Capacitor which needs something BIG like his Basement Device but once that first Tear/Portal is made the Capacitor can Tap into that Layer of Reality/Multi-Reality/Inter-Reality?

Something analogous to Tesla Wireless Power Transfer or on the Fictional Side maybe akin to Babylon 5's Hyperspace Energy Taps like the Vorlons and Shadows used?

I feel this theory is a little like a Syphon. You apply force/Power initially to kickstart the process of drawing water but once started Gravity and Inertia do the rest for you. Theoretical Fusion Power is based on gaining a similar Stability and Positive Equation that generates more Power than invested into it's ignition.

I think the Invasion version of a Manta supports this theory.
The Timer and the Manta draw on the same Multiversal Energy to Tap and so can interfere with eachother.
The Manta itself suggests Quinn's Father's theories of Anti Grav based on similar theories and applications of Physics are correct also.
And Anti Grav if possible would be very power hungry as would be those Invasion Episode Energy Weapons.
These Technologies are all tied together in a Sliding related Tech Tree.

And what do we see in Invasion? Bio-Mechanical Craft. Living Technology with Multiversal Transition capability, Energy Weaponry, Anti Gravity Lift and Inertialess Drive Systems that are potentially applicable foe Extra Planetary operation and again I point out Bio-Technology in Material Science for Strength, Self Repair/Healing, Adaptation potentially but crucially and lastly the biggie....

Bio-Computing..... BIO-COMPUTING!!

I cannot stress that enough. If Quinn can calculate a natural Weakness in the Multiversal Barrier with Early 90's Tech... Imagine what could be done with a Modern OTL Touch Pad.... Or.... A Bio Computer?

Also this theory promptly Debunks Smarter Quinn's claims in "Other Slide of Darkness" as the Invasion Manta is the Product of a Mature Technology and Society which has pushed it's applications and implementations very far.

If he did provide the Sliding Equations to a Kromagg Earth it was NOT Season 2's Kromagg Homeworld.

Season 2's Kromaggs will always be a very different Group, Society and maybe even Species to the Abominations and Parodies of later Seasons.

Did you get around to watching the Sci Fi "Humans" ireactions? Apparantly that is getting a Season 2 with all the original cast.
In the case of Misfits however the Show was a suprise success which could explain some of it.

That Turnover issue is a more recent Beeb trend sadly.
Beeb as a whole has degraded badly since the Late 90's early Noughties.

Red Dwarf kept a Consistent cast til the end of Starbug Alone Season and the Nanite Reconstruction of the Dwarf.
