Cops have been filled with white supremacists a lot longer than six years.  It just used to be more acceptable to ordinary white folks.

I certainly don't think we need more copaganda shows on TV.  The airwaves are overflowing with fairy tales about selfless cops who never do wrong.

The cops have only themselves to blame.  They deservedly lost the trust of the public through corruption, incompetence, and a culture of unaccountability.

Your story is not exactly a ringing endorsement of the cops.  They didn't prevent the break in.  They apparently didn't respond when a man in a car was chasing a van and shooting for 20 miles.  They weren't able to track bleeding criminals from an accident site.  You decry defunding the police, but is this level of service really deserving of being the biggest ticket item in your local budget?

ICarly and X-Files were far more successful on their first run and had revivals much sooner after their original airing.  ICarly was reborn less than a decade after it left the air and Nickelodeon reran it often during those years.

Battlestar Galactica is probably a more suitable model.  The original Battlestar Galactica, like Sliders, was a low rated Sci-Fi show that developed a small but devoted following.  It was successfully rebooted about 25 years after its original run with none of the original cast returning.

A Sliders porn story would be them discovering someone using sliding technology for exploitation.  The pornographer finds a world where someone like Beyonce isn't famous, pays her double a relatively small amount to star in a porn film, then brings it back home and makes a mint.

Star Wars isn't set in our future (or any future) so it's just a matter of technology progressing differently in that distant galaxy.

It's easy to forgive Roddenberry for undershooting.  The best minds of the 60's envisioned a computer powerful enough to manage the moon landing that could fit in a single room.  The notion that the average person would be carrying one that powerful around in their pocket every day would have seemed ludicrous to even the most optimistic futurist.

Also Star Trek is set in Earth's future so you would expect them to have at least current Earth level tech.

Star Wars is set in the distant past of a far away place so the tech can look like anything.

Biden bears much of the blame for the Democrats poor performance in the 2020 Congressional elections.  His less than vigorous campaign schedule meant he wasn't out stumping for down-ticket races.

Sliders crossovers make for great fanfic.  They probably wouldn't make great television.  Still, an occasional crossover could be fun.  It certainly wouldn't be the end of the world.

Despite the rhetoric, there's very little fraud that will be prevented by voter ID.  Impersonating individual voters at the polls is the least efficient way to affect elections.  Anyone with enough resources to do it enough to matter can (and will) use better methods to achieve their goal.

The actual verified voter fraud in recent elections hasn't been anything that would be stopped by voter ID.  It's stuff like this...

or this...

Pretty sure it's the Democrats who don't want to require voter ID, as such requirements tend to discriminate against minorities and the poor

Quantum Leap is horizontal, moving to different points along the same timeline.
Sliders is vertical, going to the same point in different timelines.

Assuming you view time as a horizontal line, that is.

Many of the reboots have at least some of the old cast.  The Sex And The City reboot has most the stars of the original.  Dexter: New Blood has Michal C Hall.  Cobra Kai has Ralph Macchio.  Gossip Girl, Saved By The Bell, Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, ICarly, and more have returning cast members from their age-old source material.

the science here is absurd, of course, because in real life, humans don't really generate that much electricity

The science of The Matrix was always absurd.  If the machines were truly after the best organic battery they'd use something that's easier to control and generates more heat and electricity than a human, like a goat.  The only reason to use humans is retribution, to punish humans for the war their ancestors waged against the machines, which assumes an emotional framework the machines really shouldn't have.

JOC isn't too old to lead a network TV show.  He's younger than Queen Latifah, who's headlining The Equalizer.  He's younger than Shemar Moore, the lead in S.W.A.T.  He's 10 years younger than Rob Lowe, star of 9-1-1: Lone Star.  There are plenty of other examples.

Scarlett Johansson and Disney Settle ‘Black Widow’ Pay Lawsuit

I finished the first season and the first episode of the second.  I'm a little hesitant to proceed, as the over-glorification of the 60's and making the Kennedy assassination the lynchpin of all history are tropes I despise.

I found the lack of cell phones in 2019 in season one to be distracting.  I realize the whole plot would have ended by the third episode if the characters had them, but that's an indictment of the writers rather than the technology.

"Encanto," an animated film about a magical family in Colombia with music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, will be available exclusively in theaters for a month following its November 24 release. It will be on Disney+ on Christmas Eve.

I can’t blame her, and she probably has a good case.  Start looking for pandemic clauses in future contracts; nobody has thought of that before now.

The success of Shang-Chi strengthens her case.

Marvel is at an impasse in negotiations with the Russo Brothers because they're looking for assurances their next film won't get dumped on D+, thus reducing their take.

They want death to matter so much that they brought back every character Thanos had killed for the final fight in Endgame.

Do I need to watch all 130 episodes of the original series to understand REVELATION?

I am a big Kevin Smith fan's podcasts and articles, but I find his movies to be good scripts that are very poorly directed (although his work on THE FLASH has been fine).

Smith only wrote one episode and didn't direct any of them.

You don't need to see every episode of the original series or read the comics to understand it.  There are Easter Eggs for those with a deep familiarity with the series.

I watched the first part of MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVELATION.  The second part is complete and expected before the end of the year.  Each part is five episodes.

By the power of Grayskull, there will be SPOILERS

I really liked it.  Killing off He-Man and Skeletor in the first episode and making Teela the protagonist in the quest to restore magic to Eternia was an inspired choice.  Skeletor's lameness as the primary villain was always a weak point of the show and comics.  Of course they both come back in episode five, with Skeletor finally revealing his motivation for constantly attacking He-Man and Castle Grayskull.  I applaud the show for finding something that makes Skeletor even more unlikeable and pitiful than he already was.  The second half will undoubtedly shove Teela, Andra, and Evil-Lyn back to the background to placate the fanboys and will be the worse for it.

Ultimately the Afghani "leadership" is to blame for the Taliban's quick retaking of the country. The US left them with a significant advantage in manpower and equipment, twenty years of training, and control of all the major cities. Maintaining a hold over the country shouldn't have been that difficult.

The reliance on heavy emotions is for better or worse, simply a result of the streaming phenomenon.  It's what every show does now just about.

In Discovery's case it bogs down the pace of the show.  It'll be moving along then one of those scenes will grind it all to a halt.

Discovery S3 had a direct call back to a TOS episode

Just finished Season 3 of Discovery.  Huge improvement over the first two!  There's still too much of Burnham's oppressive voice overs talking about her feelings and too many scenes of the crew bonding & encouraging each other & mourning their losses.  Unlike TNG, this crew actually needs a therapist.  The season improves as it goes along and gets away from some of that.  When we get to the end of the season it starts to make more sense why the series has been centered on Burnham.  It's been building to...

SPOILER!

...her becoming captain.  We've seen the false starts, set backs, and inspired actions that got her to this point.  That's very different from the already experienced captains we've seen in other Trek shows.  It actually makes me want to rewatch the first two seasons.

It's natural for fans of the show to want a follow up to The Seer.  People want closure.  I suspect the vast majority would get on board with a reboot, especially if Jerry and/or the other Sliders are involved.

They shouldn't try to wrap up anything.  Establish the premise over the opening credits like iZombie or Buck Rogers in the 25th Century or Gilligan's Island then start the show with the four Sliders tumbling out of a wormhole into whatever world we're visiting this week.

My feeling was that Smarter Quinn encountered a world where Kromaggs dominated instead of humans independently of the imperial Kromaggs and shared his technology with them for whatever reason.  Then he left there, never encountered another world with native Kromaggs, and assumed (incorrectly) they became the empire.

Black Widow is delayed again

It will be the last delay, though.  Now that they’re also releasing it as a premium on Disney+, the theatrical release is an afterthought in Disney’s mind.

IOW the same strategy that made Raya and the Last Dragon a huge disappointment.  It seems clear that Disney is trying to keep Black Widow from being too successful.

Black Widow is delayed again

If Jerry is the only returner and they want to ignore the prior canon, that's still pretty easy to handle.  Make him Professor Mallory and cast three new sliders to adventure with him.  That way you have the option of hooking in to the old show if you want, with the original Quinn being his double who went off sliding 25 years ago.

He should be disinterested in how sliding works.  We all should be.  As long as it works consistently, the technobabble explanations aren't important.  Star Trek got annoyingly tech-y in TNG and Voyager.  I suspect most fans would have been fine without ever hearing about multi-modal reflection sorting as long as the answer to "Can we beam through the shields?" was the same week to week.

I suspect he would at least review the last half of the show to avoid repeating something they've already done.  They would look very silly doing another Kromagg western or diamond heist or show with living flames.

It would be very easy to set up a situation for it to be just Quinn leading a new batch of sliders if Jerry is the only one to commit.

A couple of grad students are experimenting with wormholes, not 100% sure what they've stumbled on to.  They've been sending "probes", basically just radio controlled vehicles with cameras and microphones attached, then retrieving them a few minutes later.  So far everything that's been recorded has been very ordinary.  A beach, a forest, a park, a basement, etc.  They believe these are images of alternate universes but it's all so mundane it doesn't prove anything.  Then, while trying to bring back one probe they get an anomalous reading from the tunnel.  They assume an animal must have gotten into the wormhole with the probe.  Not knowing what effect sliding would have on a living creature or whether they might be bringing something too dangerous for them to handle they try to shut it down before whatever it is appears.  Just before the wormhole closes a man in his mid 40's comes tumbling out.  It's Quinn Mallory!  But, he's lost his memory of the last X years (we know it was the New Gods For Old nanoprobes, but he doesn't) but he remembers traveling with the original group and goes sliding to find them, accompanied by the students and the accidental addition of a random passerby.

His memory can be cut off at The Guardian, or any other point along the way as needed.  It doesn't even need to be explained to the audience as long as it's made clear it is not a side effect of sliding.  If Maggie is being used he can remember through Roads Taken and the repeat of the accidental passerby can be skipped.  If Diana is being used he can remember through New Gods For Old.

I'd like to think they'd at least try to acknowledge the last two seasons if they're bringing back the old cast.  I'd hate to think Maggie and Colin and Diana and Mallory meant nothing.

My guess is they could get all of the original four for at least a cameo.  Probably all four substitutes as well if they wanted them.  Would any of them sign up for a full series run?  Jerry would.  Cleavant and JRD might.  No way Sabrina would.  Kari, Tembi, and Charlie certainly would.  Rob, probably not.
