I tried to watch the Zicree and Tormee interview, but the host was very offputting I agree. Sadly I found him so obnoxious in the first few minutes that I could not force myself to continue listening.

I am not a fan at all of Picard or of Discovery, despite that though I do agree that content and creators need to be set apart lest one taint the other.

My Grandad was the main Male influence in my life and he spent much of my childhood teaching me good conduct by example, he often put on old Movies from the Era of the 40's and 50's, things like Ben Hurr, Spartacus etc and he loved those movies.

That said.... My Grandad despised Kirk Douglas.

My Grandad worked hard as a boy and suffered violence and abuse from his own Father, often protecting his Brother and Sister from him. He worked as a Farmer in Sicily and later as a Miner in the UK.

He described Kirk Douglas as unwholesome. He said that he reminded him of his own Father, yet found it difficult to explain exactly why or how, as there was no physical resemblence at all.

There is recent leaks to the Public of some of Kirk Douglas's actions that apparently have long been circulated unofficially, such as a brutal assault on a horrifyingly young Natalie Wood.

It all feels very reminiscent to the coming to light of the actions of the British paedophile and rapist Jimmy Saville.

My Grandfather did not live to learn of such information regarding Kirk Douglas, though it seems his instincts about the Actor were correct.

My Grandad taught me to seperate the Content from Creator, which is not always easy to do, so I can certainly respect Zicree's tact in that interview you describe Ib.

I for one hated Peckinpah when I learned of his actions in harming the Sliders cast and content, it took a while to lose some of that bubbling vitriol, now I just feel disappointment at lost opportunities for the Sliders show.

So he is the literal definition of a "Gray Man", the best type of spy that goes unremarked and blends in.

I really hope a revival comes to pass.... I agree that an Animation would be the best fusion of monetary frugality and sfx being able to be depicted affordably.

Alternatively Audiobooks would also be very affordable, though with a smaller viewership.... Perhaps an Animatic? A Narrated Comic with occasional animated parts?

That would retain some visual colour and sfx that would perhaps attract the audience, who would ordinarily be put off by a purely auditory medium?

It was a shame, but it's also like mehhhh.  Basically every musical artist's Wikipedia page has the same entry, so and so was among those who lost their master tapes.  For 98% of these artists, the masters were never going to be used again.  The music has been remastered up, down, left, right, over and over again.  There's nothing left to do.

I was more thinking of things like cut content, unreleased tracks etc.

Heh! Made me laugh and smile!

@Grizzlor

I'm sorry if you found our talk of Zoe distracting, I would like to be clear in stating that there was no "Banter" about such serious issues.

As to input regarding Characters.... Well of course Tracey will be leery of would be back seat drivers on his vision, especially given historical events.

That said, Tracey has always been receptive and welcoming of Fan Opinions, he can choose whether to disregard or take in what is presented to him.

Concern was noted that perhaps Tracey was unaware of Sabrina's positive comments on any future project....

It seems likely that Ib's thoughts are correct, flexibility would likely be on Tracey's mind, to avoid getting locked into availability issues.

Guest appearances are possible for anyone after all.

Zoe McLellan is currently missing, having disappeared with her son. There's a warrant for her arrest for kidnapping her son as his custody was in dispute with the biological father. Her situation is pretty messed up with a lot of accusations flying her way from her ex and Zoe having previously accused the father of raping her son (although she's not defending herself against current accusations because she seems to have gone into hiding).

Holy Hannah!

I certainly was not expecting that at all..... That's actually really sad and upsetting.

I like how you all have different ideas and a vision of what Sliding is, what Stories and Situations should be central.....

It's beautiful.

Infinite Possibilities in Infinite Combinations means that all of you are right.

Sliders offers a Medium to tell every kind of story. From personal stories, to situational stories and even more broadly impactful scenarios of a regional/national, philosophical, political or technological focus.

Different Figures in positions of influence and or power that shape a society in the past or present.

Biological varience in Flora & Fauna that can effect everything or nothing, from food and diet, to ecosystem collapse or sustainability, all the way up to atmospheric composition and oceanic PH levels.

Social Norms that run counter to the expected, or that have subtleties that can be easily missed to great cost.

Fashion that can mislead as to the Era or even shape what proffession you can or can not have, where you are allowed to visit or not and who you are allowed or not to talk to.

In Medieval Times perception of colour itself was different to now. One of the earliest still intact Chapels has paintings of the battle of Lucifer and Michael. Lucifer and Michael are depicted as Good vs Evil based upon the Colour of Clothing and Halo.... in the Modern Era Lucifer is associated with Red. Back then though, it was Lucifer clad in Blue and Michael clad in Red. Red back then was more associated with Vitality and Warmth. With Blue being associated with Death and the Cold.

Things changed in our Reality, but in AU timelines? Colour could mean the difference between many things from the unimportant, to the seriously dangerous or vital.

Well the Actress that portrayed Logan St Clair, Zoe Mclellan is still Acting and has aged very well, she looks great to put it bluntly. So as long as she is not already committed to other Projects etc, then the possibility of her coming back is viable at least.

That said, I do recall that the Wormhole she departed through was rather destructive, so even if she survived the transition through the Vortex, they could easily bring in a new Actress using the excuse/reasoning of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery etc.... Would also allow Torme to let the character once again avoid recognition by the Sliders.

The first time it was Gender that obfuscated recognition of her being an Evil/Amoral double of Quinn. This time it can be via Nip Tucking or maybe even a Technological Solution with interesting features like the old Movie "Darkman"?

Unfortunately I find myself in agreement with you both.

Universal don't really even seem keen on any spending at all, regarding most of it's IP's as just a form of passive income and a potential asset value in the event of a sale or merger.

I think that unless Torme succeeds in his endeavours, then the future of Sliders remains with us the Fandom to create new content and remind people that the Setting and Franchise exist.

The Lego Sliders that IB mentioned that @Cez had made intrigues me, I was unaware it existed so will definitely check it out.

On that note though....

I watched some of an animation called RWBY by Rooster Teeth. The Animation is striking, but not really all that impressive in terms of detail. It reminds me a lot of the visuals from the early Noughties PS2 Games "Star Ocean: Until the End of Time" & "Rogue Galaxy".

An Artist friend of mine explained to me that it is or was actually made using something called "Miku Miku Dance" aka "MMD".

So I was thinking.... We could put aside our SOD (Suspension Of Disbelief) to enjoy Lego renditions of Sliders, with an entire Fanbase arising with RWBY that was made with Dated Graphics/Visuals....

So maybe we as Fans of Sliders could work with something like MMD?

Sure it is imperfect, but could offer possibilities that may not otherwise be possible.

If nothing else it shows that Cel Shading using MMD is a viable form of Animation that can be consumed.

It also makes me think of the Amateur Fan of Zelda that used the Game "Total War" to make his own RTS Game composed of the many Races and Factions from the Legend of Zelda series of Games.... He since progressed beyond "Total War" as a Game Engine and even creates his own Cut Scenes with much better Visuals.

Wow! This is great news!

Probably far too premature to celebrate, but definitely enough to warm the heart and buoy up ones spirits!

The mentions of costs kind of hit me thoughtfully. I too agree that a lot can be done to save on budget by filming in a different country and by clever redressing of sets.

Even Computer SFX are easier and cheaper to do in the current era. Especially if it is not all done in the USA.

If they could make Blade Runner decades ago with set dressing on a Backlot I do not see why similar or different cannot be done today for less.

I wonder if Tracey Torme would ever consider working with Paul Donovan who worked on Lexx?

They are very different people, but neither were afraid of touching upon issues or offending people with satire.

Plus Paul Donovan knows what is like to barely scrape by on a budget without compromising overly on artistic vision.

HBO used to allow a lot of creative freedom, although it bit them in the rear when it came to Game of Thrones.

A few years ago the BBC in London sold off a lot of it's assets, this included both warehouses full of props, studios and it's Headquarters in London.

Part of this was Government Pressure and Govt Appointees acting on said pressure.

Under the auspices of saving money.

Sadly without owned studios and warehouses etc, everything costs more to do and work with as the BBC now has to lease locations and storage and workshops etc.

It is always cheaper if you own such Locations and Assets.

Less overheads and lesser time pressures too.

Maybe somebody could suggest to Tracey the possibility of a Country with affordable Filming Locations AND Studios/Storage etc that can be owned by his Production Company?

I've recently become interested in upscaling myself.... Not really within my capabilities given my disabilities and health, but I enjoy learning new things even if I cannot physically do so.

I have long been a fan of Alternate Universes and Timelines etc, Sliders Fan so a rather obvious thing, but before Sliders came to my attention, my first introduction to such premises was literature.

Visually though, my first experience of this in Media was a PC Game.

Command & Conquer by Westwood Studios.

Shortly followed by

Command & Conquer: Red Alert

EA eventually bought out Westwood and treated the Franchise as badly as Fox and Sci-Fi treated Sliders....

That said, these two Games were recently Remastered by EA working with former Westwood Creators in doing so.

I don't think EA have exactly changed their ways, but just saw an opportunity to cash in.

Even so.... The Game Graphics are improved. The Cut Scene FMV's.... Less so.

They are an improvement sure, but not optimally done.

A Youtube Channel I follow though has been working on Upscaling these FMV's in a more complete and thorough manner.

In case any of this interests you guys I will link below.

It's been a while since I've been online here. My health has been all over the place, but I really missed seeing the chatter and creativity often shared here

I even forgot my Username and Password combination for a while Lol.

Anyway....

I've been enjoying a very fun Fanfic that features lots of Multiversal Travel via various means.

It visits many Settings and has a lot of cross pollination going on.

Some versions of Doom had Powers but overall Doom's Intellect and Drive were his real power.

Science, Sorcery, Alchemy etc were all fields of Power and Knowledge he tapped into both seperately and in combination with each other.

He was a more Grounded Genius than Reed Richards but Doom hated Reed and always strived to. Outdo him.

Doom was able too leverage his breakthroughs. To benefit the People of. Latveria but. Gets bored quickly so. Stirs things up. A. Lot..

Good thoughts!

It is an original Fiction but freely available to read on alternatehistory.com

You DO have to join up as a Member as it is in the Writers Forum.

It's Full Name is: Red Doll: Old School Cyberpunk.

Here is a Link: http://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/t … nk.352732/

It is very engaging and a lot of fun to read especially for a Cyberpunk Fan like me.

I hope some of you will give it a try too.... smile

A Worf series WOULD be awesome.....

That said though I am very fond of TNG/DS9 Era Romulans too....

I read a Fan made Partial rewrite of Star Trek: Nemesis.... I guess you could call it an early draft?

Basically a Romulan Movie done right in Fic Form rather than the haphazard mess of a Film we ACTUALLY got.

Let me know if a Link to it would be of interest.

The Device seems like a Budget version of the Machine from Seven Days....

The real big problem re Registration is that even if Individual Heroes could go either way the Marvel US Govt is pretty Morally Bankrupt and is involved in really Shady, Illegal and Unethical stuff on a regular basis.

SHIELD itself even Minus Hydra is a Bad Guy/Antagonist more often than not too.

Logan would have been a better recurring antagonist.....

If it goes well then no longer will carbooting for old brick phones to modify be needed.....:)

There are the Wrap Party Tapes which are full of Clangers and FX Failures, Jokes and outtakes etc and I really enjoyed both Season One and Two's.

There was one for Season Three as well and although there were a few funny moments the Atmosphere of Enjoyment and Fun from the First two was mhted and absent in part....

The Wrap Tapes for Babylon 5 are good too but I am aware it is a little off topic.... But that atmosphere of fun of Sliders Season 1 & 2 is in the B5 Tapes too.

I was a long time Sliders Fan from when it aired in the Latter half of the Nineties in the UK on BBC 2.

My best friend back then is who introduced me to the Internet and my first Fansite/Forum/BB was the Lexx site where I went by the Username: Fractal Core.

I followed that to the Anime Fandom like RAAC, FFML, AnimeAddventure and FF.Net back when the place was small and before it became "The Pit"

I did read a fair few Sliders Fics back then too but usually via Web Rings.... God you dont see them much now except on the Wayback Machine huh?

Found this place a few Years back before the multiple Crashes and kind of binge read the whole archives before I felt comfortable interjecting but yeah I agree it is sad those threads are gone as I too learned a lot.....

I'll check out the Link today or tonight!

I might be interested in playing but I am just about to start in one RP with a new Character and am on Waitlist to play in a Fallout RP.....

Venom can be a good Anti Hero but not when Eddie Brock is it's Host.
Venom shines best as an Anti Hero either when he is up against Carnage or the other Symbiotes and sometimes when he gets all possessive of Peter in the "Only I get to Kill my First Other!" type way.....

Mac Gargant/The Scorpion was interesting during his Redemption Arc period but Spidey was so awful at the time due to Aunt Mays Hospitalisation and Identity Crisis issues due to Ben Reilly being around.....

The Scarlet Spider I actually grew to Prefer over Spiderman/Peter.... I would really love to see a Clone Wars Movie but finding the Right Spidey Actor for all those Spideys would be vital... You can get away with different Cast for Spider Woman Clone, Kain with his huge Build and maybe a Man Spider defective Clone but yeah Cast would be a real issue to do it right.....

Blade might have been ok to cross as could FF4 and X Men but those kind of things should have been done long ago not now.....

Yeah probably just my outdated Samsung being a nuiscance. smile

I have not seen this Film before and to my Shame had not heard of it til Yesterday whilst reading through the Russian Sliders Fansite "Moving the World".

Here is the Summary I found over there:

Director: Daniel Cohen
Starring: Benoît Poelvoorde, Natasha Lindinzher Michelle Dukossyu, Daniel Cohen, Pascal Elso, Florence Laurier, Arly Dzhover, Ogusten Legrand, Mathias Mlekuz, Zofia Moreno

In a distant parallel world the lost inhabitants of a tiny tribe Begameni languishing under the yoke of the cannibal Zot. And every day they pray to the heavens for a savior who would free them from the tyrant. Meanwhile, in Paris, in this world, lives a typical loser, modest and an unknown restorer of paintings by Rémi Bassano. At once he had fallen 33 accident: his studio was flooded, he lost his job and is mired in debt, plus everything his wife ran away, leaving a weakling.

It is a 2007 Film though whether that means Filmed or Released then I have no idea.

There is a Rotten Tomatoes Review for it in English but Wikipedia only seem to have a French Entry and IMDB have a pitifully Sparse Summary.

Here is the Rotten Tomatoes Link:  http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/deux_mondes/

So I assumed that is because I need to Register First.

So I clicked on the Symbol of three Horizontal Flat Lines atop each other to open the Pop Up then Clicked on "Log In or Sign Up".

I then saw the Log In Fields which were not applicable but saw in Red the awords "Sign Up" which I clicked on and they changed from Red to Black in Colour.

I then waited and waited and nothing happened.

That's the Current situation.

I am using my Phone but I do not have access to a Laptop or Computer so it is my only option right now.

It could be that the Web Page has attempted to display in a Mobile Format but unlike some sites there is no option at the bottom of the Page to select between Mobile and Desktop/Classic so I can not test if that is the issue or switch it if it is.

Damn what a missed opportunity.... If Season 3 had stayed in Vancouver I imagine maybe it may indeed have been possible.

Maybe it happened in a Parrallel World? smile

I'm still reading through the Site and there is some interesting Fan Art, Fan Fics and Fan Vids that I have enjoyed seeing.

It's a shame I never knew of this site before. I have looked for other Language Fan Sites for stuff before and found some good French Stargate Sites and some nice Italian Legend of Dragoon Sites but although I have found some pretty fleshed out and fresh Russian Sites for Guyver and Evangelion I never stumbled across Sliders stuff....

Sliders seems to be known by the Title "Moving" in Russia which may explain part of that I guess as I never knew this before. smile

I have tried to Register but no luck. Either Google Translate is interfering with the Registration attempts or perhaps the Site just is not accepting new members.... Which would be a shame. I'm hoping it is just my own incompetence in play and maybe one of you will have more luck via PC or Laptop versus my Phone attempts. smile

I have found another link to another Russian Sliders Fansite on THIS Site and even though it was a dead link I took the time to access it via the Wayback Machine and Google Translate the Result which I will post below. I've not yet read any of it as I want to finish perusing the First Russian Site which does seem to still be active despite my Registration Failures.

Brimstone was very good. Being a UK resident though we here just assumed Brit TV were too cheap to buy Season 2.

We never knew it was Axed the way it was for quite a few years.

Seaquest was fun and did have a bit of Sliders sense of Wonder but with regard to the Sea as opposed to the multiverse obviously smile

Roy Scheider from Jaws was in The first Series and then we got a Pseudo Sequel/Reboot set in the Future but with some of the same Crew from the First Seaquest Show. I think it was Alien Abduction or Time Travel.... Or Both?
It's been awhile.

The Deluise's were in it and Ted Raimi who played Joxer in Xena.
There was good bits in the Sequel but like Sliders it reoriented from Exploration and Curiosity to Action and War and Conspiracy....

There were some truly Awful Episodes like Sliders but there were also some real delights.... Like Sliders smile

If JRD is too committed to Shannara then what about something I remember reading here about the idea of Arturo being a Father of Sliding in a Fic or Working idea a while back which would be great for JRD as a Guest Appearance where he has impacted a Parallel Universe greatly. It could also allow additional appearances and even Full Cast Status.....

Good place for Fresh to Sliding but Mature to Life Quinn to discover and interact with too.

Oh Wow! I very much agree with you about "Junk Sci Fi" as you call it!
I always called it "Garden Shed Sci Fi" or "Kit Bash Sci Fi"!

Stuff like Caverite in Journey to the Moon the H.G. Wells Story and Film with Anti Gravity Window Blinds! wink

I am a Massive Fan of Captain Nemo and Robur the Conqueror by Jules Verne also as they to were Visionary Inventors who achieved what they did in similar ways! smile

Funny that you mention Explorers as I never noticed the Music Similarity but I do love the Film for it's Kit Bash quality or Junk Sci Fi as you call it. You know I think that term might catch on with me. smile
I disliked what the Kids found in Space after they built their space pod but apart from that.... The Film had a great sense of Wonder to it.

There is an Inventor here in the UK (A Real Life one) called Trevor Bayliss who actually made the Term "Garden Shed Inventor" famous as he designed a Radio that needs no Batteries and instead runs off of stored Clockwork Power!

They seem to have disappeared now his fame has waned and Digital seems to be phasing out FM Radio sadly but I still think they are great!

I've always wanted one.....

I'd love to see some new Sci Fi in that Genre actually but it seems fairly scarce sadly.

Honey I Shrunk the Kids was great too.....

Am I the only one who thought a DNA scanner was a perfectly feasible thing for the Kromaggs to have, given the setup?

I'm only going off the podcast here - like everyone else here, one watch of "Requiem" is enough for me for a lifetime - but what if the Kromaggs are searching for genetic anomalies? Errors in the code, abnormalities that might express themselves in a future Humagg? Your DNA isn't just your species, it's also your genetic makeup, and it's extremely plausible that the Kromaggs want to screen out anything that might cause weakness in future generations.

(Standard disclaimer: Requiem is still awful and irredeemable. I like a lot of episodes of Sliders that many people hate. I think "The Breeder" was an awesome deconstruction of what Sliders had become: Maggie as monster and invasive succubus, death all around. "Sole Survivors" is, I think, the best damn episode in season 3. Even "State of the ART" had some good stuff. "Requiem" is like a festering wound on the series.

I'm glad people wanted to resolve Wade's story. I hate that this was what they ended up with.)

I too quite liked Sole Survivors. smile
I felt that Infected Quinn's behaviour and use of intellect etc was one of the few times in Season Three where he was in Character as his Season 1 & 2 Characterisation.

Modernizing and improving a cheaply made series with potential can and has been done.  Did you not see Battlestar Galactica?

To begin with it was good but turned to Crap mystical slapped together stuff like the FInal Five and Cylon Earth togethr with embracing Ludditeism

You are correct that salvaging a Show can be done as prior to nBSG there was the awful Galactica 1980 which seemed to be BSG's Death Knell until nBSG.

Interestingly though BSG has more similarity to Sliders than you might think.

BSG almost got rebooted in a Sequel/Continuation by the Shows original Creative Drivers but I think the Twin Towers led to Cast being dismissed, BUilt Sets being destroyed etc.

It got a lot further than Sliders under Torme for Season 4 on Sci Fi Channel but hat too nearly happened but sadly no Torme Cast or Sets almost happened before Peckinpah Cursed the Show once more.

Aye it's a shame. But probably the best method given how unworkable the other options would be in comparison. Plus it cuts through the Baggage to get to the Important Core of Characters and Setting Exploration that can be done by holding up a Mirror to our World and then looking at the AlternativeWorld and our Four Favourite Characters Doubles or Lack of on said World.

I always thought Crystal Computing was well known among Fans in Sci Fi-dom after Babylon 5 in the 90's and Stargate in the Noughties regardless of greater Scientific Principles and Applications.

Yay!!! smile
