Hadn’t been paying attention for awhile, but it looks like someone is selling accurate, functional handlink props from Quantum Leap:

QL is somewhat of a cousin to Sliders, and I know many who were as obsessed with the handlink as they were with the timer (myself included).

Those are the best handlink replicas I have ever seen.

I'd love to have an extra $650 I could use to splurge on one with. But alas...
