I don't know what the heck your talking about, haven't been here in a long time.

I thought when asking for ideas that this was an open form not an attack spot for any ideas that you did not see worthy to follow up a show from 20 years ago.

Being that you have no more clout with NBC/Universal/Comcast then I.

I have no idea why you have decided to go on the attack.

Oh well, nothing more to say

Ireactions, the above works, but would work better if Rembrandt is the key to hiding everything and he purposely has found away to stay busy in Quinn s life so that every time Quinn is talking about antigravity machine etc. Rembrandt eyes lite up in terror and he suggests other scientific endeavors ....Rembrandt and the proffessor could be the key to distracting Quinn over the years up to the point where he does start sliding again ....instead of a 2001 Quinn hiding sliding it was a Rembrandt that somehow met up with the proffessor in 2001 after the kromagg cure of the finale and they had developed this magic machine to go back in time and stop Quinn from presuming sliding past the initial test the hid the tapes and all evidence leading to sliding from Quinn to keep our Earth from going through all of the awful events sliding had brought.

Rembrandt would be a tortured soul and the guy with the experience knowing that he eliminated both the good and the bad that sliding had accomplished. ..telling himself more bad than good happened over the 5 year journey...and now that the team is forced to slide again hoping they don't make the same mistakes trying to find home...or a safe supstitite for home.

true my friends son said the same thing, hard to believe that a 20 year old show, is getting new life through Netflix...but mu love of Star Trek was from reruns on my local independent station that later became FOX, they had Star Trek, Batman, BJ and The Bear, CHIPS and MASH and I became a fan of all these shows nearly a decade later.

Having an Old Rembrandt preaching about the dangers of sliding to a young new crew of Sliders could work, telling them nothing good comes from that timer

Basically if the show would of stayed true to its season 1 roots, and never went the way of movie land in season 3, killing the Professor, adding Rickman, adding Maggie, sending Quinns Mom and Wade to a rape camp, Earth Prime takin over by the Maggs, Maggs now speaking english, wearing Nazi uniforms and speaking English, Jerry's brother 1st acting job, Jerry the producer, Jerry and brother quit, Quinn merge with Mallory, Collin separates, 2 more new sliders, Wade head in jar, Season 5 ends on cliff hanger, Rembrand probably dead, maybe not, if not he genocide an entire race of bad Kromaggs.

I can think of very few Sci-Fi shows that took a concept of 4 explorers and went in the direction of Sliders...maybe Gene Roddenberry's Earth Final Conflict came close.

On the other hand if it was just Quinn the history buff as the show was originally concieved I wonder what direction it would of took, I can't imagine a world where in 5 short seasons 88 episodes their would only be 1 cast member left, using completely different sets.

It did look better than Netflix...it was not remastered, they just put black bars on the left and right of the screen since HUB is an HD network and Sliders was a standard definition show.

Universal took almost 10 years to release all 5 seasons with the finale release being the re-release of Season 1 and season 2 separately(for some reason, I'm guessing Jerry's Funny or Die skit generated some interest or maybe it is doing better on Netflix than I think.)

I'm guessing it sold good enough because  last year they released the complete series on DVD.

It has been said up converting would cost money because of all those glamorous special effects would have to be redone for blu ray

The more I think about it...the easiest reboot with a link to the past would be the world where he Quinn impregnated the lady on the female ruling planet...Quinn Jr. would have the same drive knowing only that His Father is a Slider and having a picture of his Dad, could take a new group of Sliders...looking for a new home, etc.

Could visit old worlds 20 years later through fresh eyes, see if the Sliders ruined, saved, or changed the world cool for the old audience, the new audience would never know since it is a fresh take on the show...midway through the dangers of sliding with Kromags or what is left of their empire after the vicious human Rembrandt unleashed a disease to make certain worlds uninhabitable.

The old crew could be doubles on new worlds that the new crew just runs into.

If need be for a better plot, he can go back to find out his gateway to find his dad interactively lead the Kromaggs to his world, so he now much search for Rembrandt's world to  find the cure.

Myself the show becomes less family friendly once you bring in the Kromaggs...

Same here I remember being in High School and seeing the adds saying the Jerry O'Connell was coming back to Fox from"My Secret Identity."  I remember going on a school trip and everyone talking about how cool the show was.  It was the fill in for P,arty Of 5, a show that wasn't doing good, was in fact ratings where so low they started airing Dr.Pepper commercials being for people to watch, then Sliders had higher ratings, but, it didn't matter as at the end of the 1st season it was canceled.

Then a year or so later its the lead into X-Files, which seemed like the perfect schedule, actually, gets picked up for year 3 on Fox, hard to believe a Sci-Fi show that's not X-Files with a 3rd year on FOX wow, But their where changes, bad Movie Rip-offs every week, with next to awful special effects, (Star Trek TNG, DS9, Babylon 5, Seaquest, this is the heyday of sci-fi).

Fox kills the Professor, then cancels the show, now we have to do the good fight to get it picked back up which Sci-Fi eventually does with the promise of the return of Torme' no more movie rip-offs possibility of the Professors return, all that was bad was because of FOX and with it being on a channel that loves Sci-Fi we would get the intelligent Season1 level show that we originally had.

It didn't happen while Season 4 was better than 3 it never hit season 1/2 levels of greatness.

Then season  5 and it was over, hung out on Sci-Fi, universal, and Fox BBoards during this time.

Experts webpage was a must read of all the things to come in the Sliders universe.

Netflix does introduce the show to the younger generation, being that its not syndicated anymore, we should do whatever we can to get all the episodeson

Most likely music clearance, most tunes where originals from Danny Lux so they had no other issues with the rest.

Yeah it was just odd that the show up until she came on board had Jerry playing a 21 to 23 year old guy.

Where as Maggie was written with a husband and a career meaning she had been through college, military training the academy, flight school, flown enough to then get grounded making her someone with at least 10 years on Quinn then 2 episodes in she's treating Quinn as an equal.

Fighter pilots are cocky and her military expertise would have made her take command in their weird situations....again the show decided to make her an awful tracker and that she somehow slept her way to the top with Rickman

Yeah Sliders is remembered and Netflix has helped it a little, but it is mainly the FOX years people remember.  I had 2 guys come by my house to work on plumbing, had Sliders playing, and the younger plumber said it use to be his favorite show, the Sci-Fi years are less remembered as Sci-Fi was an obscure channel at the time(some how SyFy found a way to make itself become obscure again).

The show was reran in Sci-Fi's weird SciFi World block for a couple years then the HUB rescently, so outside of HULU, Netflix, DVD's and Amazon Prime not high visibility, but more than Battlestar Galactica had before its re-launch, or any of several re-launches form Universal...Knight Rider, Bionic Woman, Ironside, New Dragnet where all re-launched with less notoriety.

Same as most everyone else been around since the old Fox/Universal board days as either Pete5125 or Sliders5125, thought the good fight to keep Sliders on the air, followed the Experts chronicles on what spoilers where coming in the Sliders World, Was excitedly awaited the year off between Fox and Sci-Fi Years, the thought of Sci-Fi taking over the show bringing back the Professor and Tracy Torme' and then instead we got the strange season 4 that would go six new episodes then reair those six episode then air 2 more weeks then rerun another 6 or 7 episodes, Sci-Fi Monday night, Sci-Fi found a way to run over a years time 18 episodes airing the first 6 at least six or seven times before Sci-Fi 2.0, where they used the last 4 episodes of season4 to lead into season 5's finale season.

Oh yeah, the question, I don't know anyone on the board, but it and earthprime helped me get through having 2 toddlers over the last 2 years and sleepless nights trying to get newborns to sleep...fun times, plus college, etc. life

I do agree cast changes are always tough especially for a show 3 half seasons in, with every season was a change.

cast 1 was the best, they mixed well and seemed like real people.

season 5 cast works as well, it shouldn't but the new  cast brings energy to a show that had become stale towards the end of season 4.

Maggie joining the team should of been a military person in her mid 30s that respected Rembrandt for his former military experience, she should of been conservative and appreciated Quinn, but wouldn't see him as an equal being a ten year age difference, Rembrandt leading the team with Quinn as the science expert that Rembrandt relied on would make more sense.

but the show is what it is .

Season 4 team of Quinn Maggie and Rembrandt did work, I like Collin, while Charlie may have been lacking in acting skill he made up for in charisma, again the writing wasn't great and he didn't have a lot to do.

If jerry is game a  series that picks up much Later staring him as an older quinn surching for his home picking up a group along the way. Could even be season 3 quinn explaining that maggie became a liability since she couldnt breath on some worlds. Meaning season 4 and 5 hpened just wasnt our team. He could evem ecplain he has been home and just continues to slide till he screws up and gets a new team lost in the multiuniversee

I just don't  think it was an easy show to work on, it was a 30 minute sitcom that took longer to film than an average drama and after a few yeats everyone was burnt out.

At a certain point as an actor you got to move on or you get stuck, most  actors get a decade 10 years from early 20s to mid 30s if they want to have a carrer ot make it.  Sohanging out on a show that went from full season to mid season too amazon show is tough.

most of the cast that stayed around was doing the last 3 years as a side job...

so can blame Glover for  mot wanting tocome back, youll notice none of the replacement actors mzke it more yhan a season.

the finale was ok, the last season again was ok., amazon always had glitches for me yhe finale 4 episodes every commercial break woild reset the sjow then i would have to rewatch that car commercial loop 4 times to fast forward and see anoyher 8 minutes thrn it eould reset again, or die, so maybeim judging it worse  than it  was.

Yahoois the worst video playbavk service that is out their.

I find it a fun read never judge anyone by it.  Hurts more that none of my wisdom survived from back in the day.

That is interesting that you are a fan that watched the fox years and quit with the season 3 final. Wich actually isn't the worst stopping point wade and Rembrandt make it home and Quinn and Maggie continue sliding through bad movie remake worlds.

I would give season 4 and 5 a watch season 4 is better than season 3 and season 5 gets close to season 2.  Yes, Quinn, his Amish brother collin, and wade do not have endings anyone would of asked for..ooh yeah Rembrandt not so much either...but Maggie she gets a good stopping point.  The newbie sliders don't die either.  Also the budget while it looked awful in the 90's hasn't aged well but it being a 20 year show helps it look better in a weird way.  Kinda hey its an old show so my brain doesn't expect cutting edge special effects.

Hope I sold you on it...your a big enouth fan to be on the boards so might as well finish the series off its on amazon, hulu, dvd, netflix

So the next season everything will start over essentially now the reverse flash never existed to go back in time.

Same as the sliders episode that was in reverse
